lol agreed

there a couple good shops for tunig and what not in the area Corksport Atkins and Pineapple for mech and parts too
but if you are in FL i think you guys dont have to worry about Emissions
you will have to worry about emisiions here so if you could pick up a stock echaust system that woudl really help you pass emissions up here
i hate god dman emissions laws
and welcome to the area

So what are you moving up here for? I have really only lived in the NW but I love it. The rain is really not that bad. People always complain about it but after a little you just learn not to drive high hp cars here when it is raining... We tend to get about 1, possibly 2 days of snow here. At least in the last few years that I have lived in Oly.

Do you have a place yet? If so where are you living?

I feel that there are quite a few good mechanics out here. There is a sticky on the top of this section that outlines all the shops and what quality of work here.

Don't be so glum...the people are very nice up here.

Its really not that bad here... it dosn't rain nearly as much as everyone says it does. In the past year and half or so I have lived up here its rained as much here as it did down in phoenix, az...
plus it gets as hot here (heat index) as it does down there... its just the winters are colder which is nice
as for mechanics here... there is quite a few and if ya get a garage or something there is a few of us here that could help ya when ya need to do something

I thought emissions testing was only in King and Pierce county? Or did they add Thurston county now too? I don't know about the comparison to Phoenix, AZ but during the summer it doesn't rain very much and it gets up to around 85 or 90 so its really nice, for about 3-5 months during the winter it rains more than it doesn't however it only rains hard every once in awhile and it is pretty mild for winter compared to other places, usually doesn't get much colder than the 50's during the day. Olympia is a nice place to live and there are quite a few things to do around there.

phoenix = 110 degress with 4-10% humidity.. here is 90 with >50% humidity... so what I feel is the same. either way its a really nice place to live (but here again I just like up here anyways... its where my ancestors are from)

olympia= no emisions. right now at least. you'll like it here. lots of 7's and a well rounded group that gets together alot. at least once a month. places to work on them are all over. so when you get here, you need to be active with the group and everything will fall into place.

Where you going to school...high school and or college? From my guess you are in college due to the loan part. Which model 7 do you have?

I hate emissions...that is why I love olympia.

lol...rice that is funny. If he thinks that it is bad here in olympia tell him to go down to centralia. When Kettleman and I went down to help out rmriggin on pulling his engine we were totally astonished.

There are quite a few rx7's up here. Has he seen the second gen vert with spinners...now that is a funny site to see!

There are a lot of people that come to my school after going to SPSCC. They all seem to be fairly smart. What do you plan on studying?

I've lived all over America, Africa, Europe and I have to say the NW is the best by far. I drive up to Seattle Friday nights from Portland to see my dad every once in a while. So be on the lookout for a silver FD rolling north on I-5 around 9:30pm - 10pm on October 7th.

Cheer up the drivers here are marginally better than the ones in FL, so you will only want to kill 1 in every 5 drivers instead of 1 in 3.

The thing about weather in Olympia is it is mostly moderate. Somtimes it gets cold , hot or it percipitates. Percipitation is differant than rain. Nobody knows how to drive in the snow in Olympia. front wheel or all wheel drive cars are all you ever need to travel safely.
People that are good layer dress other wise you may end up uncomfortable... do you drive a rotery car? keep in touch and welcolm to the new area.

I've lived in miami and seattle, and it rains way more in miami then it does here. Actually I've lived in MS, AZ, AL, FL, and WA and it rain's here the least. Man AZ in the monsoon season sucks it rains every day for 3 months straight and it's horrible down poors!

ok, first let me say "welcome to the NW", do you know when your actually going to be in town? secondly, your dad is right, there are alot of rx7's around here, unfortunitly most are 1st gens, and most are kinda trashy with the exception of a few. the 2nd gen population is hit and miss, sometimes you see a nice one sometimes you see a crappy one. there aren't to many 2nd gens that are modded out, infact I can only think of 4 including mine. 3rd gens are few and far between, there are a couple around that are all stock and old people drive them and then I know of 3 that are some what modded, 2 of them I know pretty well. so the rx7 in olympia isn't to big but I guess if you go up north towards seattle area you'll see alot more. as far as shops, theres corksports, atkins (which I heard was going down hill), mike has a pretty nice place but I forget what it's called and there are alot of trustworthy people that just do stuff out of there own garge, like me. there's not any real performance shops that deal with the 7 like there probobly is in florida. so what exactlly do you have done to your car, are you headed in any direction with it, like drifting, auto X, just a nice daily driver. well I hope to meet up with when you finally reach the great NW, talk yo you later

Your in luck, one of the best tuners in the country works in Portland, not more than a 1 1/2 hr drive from Olympia. He has extensive Power FC experience. Also you have Pineapple Racing in Portland and Atkins Rotary in Puyallup that rebuild engines. There is a guy that does auto repair on RX-7s in Olympia as well as another in Puyallup and Enumclaw about 1hr - 1 1/2 hr from Olympia.

Yeah up here has a pretty cool rotary following. We have the monthy get togethers up at Izzy's, and a fair amount of other things that go on, the yearly bbq, st helens run, toy run. There is always the auto-x stuff, and now there is the drive away hunger thing, and a few other things we do like tech days etc...
Its pretty fun, plus we are usually pretty good about helping out with questions and everything. (thanks everyone for helping with my really lame questions sometimes) I don't think ya will be have a problem at least with the 7 part here.
