Please pray for Mike as he is @ Harbor View Hospital as he had a snow bording accident over the last weekend ,and he broke his back.
As far as I am aware there is a slight chance that he will never walk again... I dont know what room # he is in @ this time..I plan on going up there this weekend to visit if I can..

As I get more info I will let you know..

I do know that some of you dont live verry far from there would you please go and visit him as I am sure he will be happy to see any one, but the doctor.. Atleast that is what would make me happy in this case if I was there..

Hey this is mama atkins, dan has the computer signed in under his name..
I hope someone will post this as a sticky and as soon as I have more information I will update everyone.
I'm not sure about visitors at this point or what room he is in. I have a call into his mama as we are friends, I have sosmeone checking into Harborview for a room number, but with the privacy laws in place its hard to tell what I can say at this time. So bear with us, and keep mike in your prayers.......

 

I just called and they stated that he was not checked in yet, so I'm curious if we have his last name spelled correctly? But the lady on the phone spoke very broken engrish and I think I'll try again.

Please keep me updated as I would like to stop by and give him my support.

Nevermind the spelling of his last on this thread is correct. The other one a few down is not.

Visiting hours are from 8am to 10pm and he is not answering his room phone. I didn't expect him to. And yes you're right they will not give me his room number for privacy reasons.

This is Mama Atkins...OK latest update, I talked to mike, he's in alot of pain! can walk with lots of help, but baby steps. He will be released today to go to his auntie house. Mike is in a body cast and unable to get around or care for him self, looks like 12+ weeks in a body cast.

Right now he says that the pain level is extremely high, breathing & talking is difficult even at a whisper.

A few have asked who Mike is. Mike use to be a former employee of Atkins Rotary, where he learned his engine building skills and knowledge of these Rotaries. The ambitious, special talented young man then went into business on his own, helping many of us with our cars. He personally built my Supercharged cars motor, and I know he took personal pride in doing it. Mikey is not your regular engine builder where motors are just put together. I honestly think he keeps a part of your car on a more personal level with him. He is a very personable, sensitive guy and has joined us in meets, and drives, and a personal friend to many of us in the forum here (fishtail mike). With Mike being so ambitious, he seemed to always have that need for speed. He gave people many scares when he would take his motorcycle down the track at high speeds. I don’t think Mike scared easily.

I must say I personally got to know Mike from a trip back from Sevenstock a couple years ago in Atkins 2nd Gen supercharged car. I will never forget that trip as long as I live. I had the best time of my life on that trip home. He showed me his high-speed talents, with many talks and many laughs. When I got home I had no voice left from the laughter.

Anyways, I hope all get the opportunity to meet him someday. This is the short version of who he is.

That certainly is very depressing and i wish him the best of a bad situation.

 

I talked to mikie today.

Sice visiting him is difficult, we have planned a dinner get together Jan 30th at 6:30
Lakewood Sizzler 1-5 & 512 exit.
Dinner special on mondays are 2 for 12.00 steak.. Additions: Salad Bar ( Huge fruit, & salads, soup & taco bar) is 3.99 Drinks are 2.50.. This is a family restraunt so no beer or hard drinks. Look for us in the back dining room. If we can get an idea of a head count I can reserve space or we can just put the tables together as every one arrives, mondays is a pretty quiet night for them.
It would be a central location, and not to far for mikie to ride since driving is out of the question.
