Mazdas & More in Federal Way

I stopped in for a minute to talk to the owner...he knows less about rx7s than I do. He didn't even know what an FD was, but i guess he has a rotary guy that does all the work...anyway is it a reputable shop?

Come on now

FD is pretty slang...its just part of the VIN you can't blame the guy for not having that memorized lol. Thats pretty import enthusiast talk. Talk to the mechanic himself IMO

I have not heard good things about them, especially their warranties and honoring them. Do a search for that shop here and see what comes up. You're allowed to make your own decision, but BEWARE!!!!!!!

I'm not looking for any work in particular, I just want to know for future reference.

Where is there a good rotary shop around the sound?

yes, I've also herd bad things about this shop, i don't recomend it in my personal opioion. there are not alot of shop around here that can work on rx-7 and actually know what they are doing maby a hand full of shops in WA state at best.

Its for this reason that i had to open the FSM factory service manual and read up and ask questions on the form to know all the knowledge that i know today.I have come to the conclusion that i won't pay someone lots of $ for something i can do my self and probably should be doing my self. Doing your own labor is free and you learn thing. But if you are not mechanically inclined at all I can recommend a ok/good rotary shop in puyallup tho pm me for details if you are interested. thanks.

bah, I can do basic maintenance stuff by myself, oil change, tune ups, tires, bolt ons etc..are all no problem. It's the advanced stuff and things like wiring that I don't know much about.

Puyallup....you're not talking about Fastlane are you?

Jeff's is a great shop as Gregs said. There is also Jerry's little car shop in Kent. Mazdas and More, not so good. If you need some wiring done or welding, You could always pay me to do it. I believe I was the 2nd person in the states to wire up a FD power FC to run a S-5 turbo motor. Runs great, NO more afm or electric omp.
Good Luck

Jeff is a nice guy.... thats all ill say about that....

the rest of what i will say is that, there is nothing as satisfying ( to me) then doing it your self... even if you don't know anything about your car... you soon will.... read the FSM, Search the forum for anyone who's had same situations/ problems.... and dig around your engine... pretty soon its all cake. I knew jack about my car several years ago and now i can say iv'e had the pleasure of doing a 5speed tranny swap(used to be a Auto) Converted my P steering to manual.... did all my own suspension work... whatever comes my way.. i just figure it out... and its a BLAST... i love working on my car... you spend less in tools and gain knowledge of your car... ill try anything save one aspect.........

body work. UG.

HAVE FUN!!! it should be.

When Mazdas and More was Rapid Rotary they where outstanding. Problem was there owner was a bit of a flake (i'm being nice) They have a new owner, now but they don't have any rotory guys (at least as of '01 when i last delt with the). I got to wait two months for a rebuild because they fired the one guy that did do rebuilds. It was a pain in the ***. The car caught fire with less then 300 miles on the rebuild as well. It was the PD, but i really don't believe in coincidences.
Go elsewhere.

Just outa curiosity, do they still have that 20B by the window?

I mostly do my own work, but when I can't sort something out, I go to Jerry Wright. I have dealt with Jerry for about 20 years, and as far as I am concerned, he is THE MAN for anything from RX-2 to RX-8. He is rather quiet spoken, very business-like, won't try to dazzle you with bullshit, and definitely won't try to sell you something you don't need. You might take a look at this web site:

I took my FB to Mazdas & More to get some emissions work done last summer. When I got it back they had lost my cat-replacement pipe, left oil splattered all over the hood, tried to overcharge me, and it still didn't pass emissions (not that it mattered at that point, I got my waiver). They did give me a Racing Beat presilencer as an apology for losing the pipe, but still...

If you like your car, stay away.

No comment about Mazdas and More when jerky durkey owned it. Not sure how it is now that he sold it, but I havent heard anything good about the new owner.

Jeff at Jeffs automotive is a real nice guy. He actually cares about how his customers are treated.

Jerry at Jerrys little cars is also very smart when it concerns these cars.

Id go to Jeffs over Jerrys though.

You know they tried to sell me a RB pre silencer once. They had it sitting on the shelf in back. I wonder if it was the same one?

Haha, could've been. Was it a GSL-SE model? The one they gave me was on the shelf in back when Jeff20B found it.

call mark at mtpeak. (mark moses) Great guy. knows his stuff. been working with rotaries a long time from what i can tell. he rebuilt my engine for nearly nothing and it still runs. But i had most of the parts ready. Or you could take it to (anothershop) And be charged 4 grand with a warrenty that has no meaning.
Remember folks Warranty means BLACK HOLE.. you know you will never see it agian. read the fine print
