Looking to get back in the game.

I have made the decision that I can no longer live without an RX-7. I have made the decision to replace my 350z with a FD after a year and a half with the Z. It has been since December 05, when I sold my T2 to Eriksseven, that I have rotorless.

At this point I am looking to trade my Z in on an FD. That means finding a FD at a dealership. I know this might take a while and I was hoping for any leads on FD's at dealerships from Bellingham to Olympia. I search craigslist and autotrader daily, but I realize there are many cars not listed. If you know of any please post them here. Must be a 5 speed and absolutly no bodykits. Color doesn't matter.

Steve

I called on a MB FD on the "eastside" on saturday and it had just sold that morning. The guy I was in contact with was pissed because he wanted my Z on trade. I wonder if that is the same one. I will look up Milenium Motors and see what I can find.

Thanks

What made you stray from the rotors any how? If you were that desperate for a new car, you could have stayed rotary powered, you know. I'll keep my eyes peeled, though.

I'll keep my eye out... I didn't know you were looking for an FD. Have you thought of any way you could get Garrett's R1? That would be money...

Garrets FD would be perfect. He would have to want a 350z though for it to work at this point. If I sold the Z you think he would part with it?

Yes, I could get him to sell it to you for around $14k, maybe $13.5k (what he bought it for IIRC). I'm almost positive.

Sadly, that is why I bought a 350z. There was really no comparison. I hate to say it, but it is true. A "rev-up" 350z is a level above an RX-8 in performance.

An FD is the only car (short of an F355) that I would want more than my Z. My Z still amazes me every time I drive it. It really is that well made.

No comparison? The only thing the 350z is clearly superior in is power/0-60/quarter mile. As far as the braking stats, skidpad, handling stats, etc they are equal, and the rx8 weighs 400-600 pounds less depending models of each. Plus from most of the reviews I've read the RX8 has more potential in handling once modified.

So it depends on what your priorities are really. Personally I care more about handling than speed/power, so in that sense the RX8 would be the same or superior once modded.

But of course an FD is much better than both, so yah go for the FD.

Handling is equal, the Z is significantly faster with 25% more (300 to 238) 60% more torque (260 to 160) and the weight difference is 200-400 if the RX-8 is 3000lbs like I thought it was.

I am super rotary biased but when it came to spending my own money there was no comparison, the Z is just a level above the 8 in performance.

I don't want to get off subject here though. I like the 8, its just not for me.

Oh come on! If you're going to compare the cars, you have to be fair about it. If you're going to hop up the Z, you have to hop up the 8. The only real comparison is Stock for stock, and the driver has more to do with performance than the car any road worth driving.

Who was talking about modified?

Anyways, I checked out one of the FD's at West Coast Autoworks tonight. It is clean and straight. The engine is a questionmark at this point. The biggest downside is they are not big enough to buy me out of the Z. So, I could put it on consignment there.... Hummm.... not to sure about that though. I think I will put it up myself before I would do that.
