A little Intro

Ok, so I am from Southern California born and raised for 19 years. I then decided to join the military and became a part of the 35000 members that make up our nations Coast Guard. From boot camp back east in New Jersey they sent me to the Pacific Northwest where I begin my tour as a lowly non-rate. I drove from Southern California to Seattle with my bags and snowboard packed to the roof of my car, in my very first car a 1999 Honda Prelude. I had the car for a little over 2 years. This is Chloe.

So early this year I decided I was tired of a FWD Autotragic car and decided to be really really dumb and trade her for a 1989 Nissan 240sx Coupe. no mods really except the dual cam KA it had in it. It was a 5spd welded diff drift car in rough shape. Long story short, blew 2 head gaskets on 2 different engines in a span of 3 months and was tired of it. This is Sloanne

Everybody say hi to Sloanne:

So after blowing up the 2nd dual cam I decided to put her up for trade on CL and see what offers I could get. I got everything from RHD Civics to boosted civics to a jeep etc. But I wanted to stay in the RWD manual club. So I waited patiently and got offered a nice little 1987 Mazda Rx7 Turbo II. She was pretty, and really fast too. Would smoke my prelude and 240 any day of the week. So now I am onto my 3rd car and love her more than ever. She is going to be a daily'd drifter. I got her how she is, just been doing some maintenance work every time I get paid. I dont have very good photos of her right now but I assure you she is adorable. As of now, the only things done to her are 30mm vented fenders, lame side skirts, S5 Tails, and a 3" straight pipe from the turbo back, oh and a **** ton of stickers lol. Everyone meet....well she isnt named yet but meet my sexy Rex!

First one means thanks for serving.

Second one means what ever you want it to mean. My mood at the time said, this poor kid has no clue what he got himself into, it will be crashed or blown up in weeks, and your car looks ridiculously ugly. My car is ugly, but that's on a whole new level of oogly. Have fun with it though!

Compared to Cali, the rx7 community is dead here in the NW, and has been for years. Lock your stuff up, it will get jacked, and you will find it gutted in Idaho.

You sound like a nice enough kid, I wish you the best of luck, you're going to need it.

Edit: Oh and I am your local *** hole, V8 piston lover, know it all, pro-am drifter. Nice to meet you.

I agree with what Tweak said. Scene=dead, Your 7=gonna get jacked, you=seem like a good kid, Tweak=resident V8 lovin Ahole on the club.... but ****, none of that matters. Love your 7. Keep it safe. Make it respectable if you want respect. Back in the 90's I was a broke teenager driving a 7 so I know how it is but there are a handful here in the NW that have been around the block with RX7's and we are hard to impress. You get major points for spending your limited cash on maintance and I would give you a high five if you removed those freakin side skirts and put the side molding on the car.

Anyways, welcome to the misery of the rainy NW. We are actually all pretty nice once you get past the BS we throw at ya.

Welcome,

Hope your pockets are deep and your mechanically inclined. He'll, you could be mechanically inclined but you still wont know jack about a rotary. Take your time with her and become friends with the search bar. Trust me. I don't think there's any topic that hasn't been covered in this site.

And don't mind Tweek. He wasn't loved as a child so he needs all the attention he can get.

Haha you guys are awesome. And I plan on removing the side skirts, they are hideous I agree completely. And I'm spending most of my cash on maintenance and I'm looking for the molding. The way that you see it, is the way I got it minus the exhaust and tails. Right now I have no where to store anything so I can't really remove anything unless I just toss it. So far I love the car and plan on taking good care of it. I used to be a car detailer before the service so I know how to take care of the outside and inside of the car. Just not so mechanically inclined so I will definitely need your help with some stuff. But thanks for the welcome. I need to meet more people up here because I need toget into the car scene. Thanks for the criticism.

Yup, the criticism goes hand in hand with posting pics!

My real advice is getting a NRG slim hub, quick release, wheel, and hub lock. Beyond that do not leave stuff in your car that human garbage would be interested in stealing: nice deck, sub/amp, backpack, a tool kit that can be seen. For some reason the number of people in this country who beleive they are entitled to everything in life for free is growing. Oh, also don't buy nice wheels until you have a secure place to park your FC or you will find it on blocks one morning.

Isn't it nice living next to a large international deep water port and an international border?

BTW, the FC is super easy to break into and steal if you didn't already know that. Now find a dumpster and remove those side skirts!!!

Sometimes rotary motors come with anti theft. It's called flooded. If your lucky...

And maybe next yr I can make a trip up there Tweek. I need to put my cage in and add some more power if I'm gonna keep up. Evergreen is a loooong drive also when Thunder Hill is half the distance. But I will try.

He is in the Coast Guard man, you know the guys that pull fishermen from the ocean? Bust the drug smugglers, etc.

Welcome to the club man, have fun with the TII, don't screw with the mechanicals to much, and it will run longer.

Again, welcome!

I got a chance to meet Bryan (87rx7nw). He's a cool dude... Shares a very similar passion for cars. I know he's looking to check out some local rotaries. It would be nice to get another eastside meet together. Eh, maybe we can wait until it gets nicer out. I know how car meets can turn out when it is rainy and crappy.

@Rx7 freak- ya Coast Guard is different, its cooler than any other branch, we save people, not kill. We shoot snipers from a moving helicopter at a moving boat, not laying on the ground just bragging a little bit haha.

@turbojeff - I will be doing maintenence more than anything right now, just getting it running right so by February it can drive to So Cal without breaking down lol. Also just doing looks and suspension first too. Then power.

@dwb87 - It was awesome meeting up with you too. I love how damn clean your engine bay is! I want it! lol but ya I would love to meet more people. I went to a "mazdasnw" meet but that was mainly newer mazdas, my 87 was like the ugly step child out of all the 08's+ lol

"mazdasnw" has a community of speed 3's. Really fun to see them at the Corksport dyno day all putting down the same numbers......same mods......one after the other.... haha

Welcome to the NW! Hope you like rain.

a full 3inch exhuast is your only mod. are you getting boost creep? or hitting fuel cut, do you have any fuel mods? is your waste gate ported?

the most imporant thing you need to know about rotaries are how to properly mod them, as doing it incorrectly can result in a blown motor very quickly, things like overboosting and running lean are a reciept for a blown motor fast!

if your going to use the stock turbo and plan to run higher than stock boost, id recomend , at least a walbro 255 fuel pump, rtek 1.7 ecu upgrade, and 720cc secondary injectors, ( or u can get the 1.8 which uses 4x720cc for even more fuel headroom).

Also you should port the wastegate, to prevent boost creep, which is an uncontrolled rise in boost, due to the wg being too small. This will happen with un restricted exhaust and intakes

I currently use an adjustable fuel pressure regulator with the Walbro. I recommend it.

I talked to him a bit about wastegate porting. Or at least I thought I did... He does, in fact, have a FCD.

It would be nasty bad to see the 3 in exhaust to cause detonation because of boost creep though. Might want to keep your revs down and keep an eye on your boost. It can climb fast in a 7.

Welcome

Your FC looks decent condition, kinda fuggs with the moldings removed from the doors but not the fenders or bumpers lol and yeah those side skirts are not helping it

Like other people said, treat the motor nice for the time being, maybe even install a stock exhaust on the car until you can afford to add fuel system, wastegate porting and ecu upgrades which will safely allow you to use the less restrictive exhaust.
The sucky part if you blow up the motor is how expensive the internals are, having one apex seal go can easily ruin your rotor, housing both plates and your turbo.

oh and I'm game for some snowbording this winter!
Back east and California have bogus mts, you will like it here if it ever intends on snowing.
