At least I made it home.......
I think I blew a cooling hose somewhere around the oil cooler. The temp guage pegged past the red. I've never seen such a large cloud of steam, completely engulfing a car. Supercar may finally be resting for a time.
So now the question is, do I put in a 175hp tII for around $1400? Or do I put in a $700 450hp small block chevy?
Or, do I just replace the hose and hope all's well?

start with the hose... then go with the v-8, but after costs for installing transmission, mounts, driveshaft, and other misc costs it would be cheaper to put a TII engine in it. Would be interesting to see a v-8 rx-7 monstosity/bastard child in person though.
Love your car as it has Loved you. Cross your fingers and hope its just a hose, if not I guess all of us will be rebuilding supercar. Worse case ----->we do have a little GS sitting on the side of our yard that the motor is probably just fine.

OK, so far, so good (I think). The coolant feed line to the beehive split. I'm going to replace all the hoses and wish for the best. It ran with the temp completely pegged for about 5 minutes. When I pulled into the driveway and let off the gas, it just died. The motor isn't locked up though, so I'm taking that as a good sign. Cross your fingers, I'll update in a bit.

it's still alive!!!! Doesn't seem to be any worse for the wear at this point. But I do need a set of stock water lines for the bee hive. the long one and the short one. anyone????
I just got some heater hose and some elbows when I replaced mine, was able to route them from lying against anything too hot. So far it has worked perfectly and makes hose replacement if needed in the future really easy.
