Job Hookup! Anyone Have One?
Ok, so Im getting pretty desperate here, I need some money to live on. Im trying to get my act together to get back to school in the fall (Administration of Justice - Shooting for civilian police), but I need some money to live off of as well. So, anyone have any ideas, or seen anyone hiring? I have a lot of computer knowledge (A+ certification classes, no cert though), including industrial design and can use all major software programs including OS's and media programs like Photoshop and Premier. I am also in the Army as a Military Police officer, so anything in security would be good too. I used to work floor sales at Macys, and as a sales assistant at BMW of Bellevue, so I have good people skills as well. Recently I worked at Jiffy Lube because I was desperate for money, but also because I knew it was easy work, Im familiar with lots of cars (including rotarys of course) and can perform complex engine work. I just built the engine for the truck in my sig, as well as rebuilding the front axle on it. I also recently rebuilt my friends rear differential after he threw a cross pin through the cover, so I can set up diff gears as well. Im a quick learner, so if youve got something or know of something, please let me know! Thanks

Yeah, that IS a long commute, and my current daily driver doesnt like the freeway too much, and only gets 15 MPG. Its been regeared lower for rock crawling, so the RPMs are screaming on the highway... Damn, thats something I couldve done too

Hey guys,
The Washington State Department of Transportation has various job opportunities, and with the new Biennium starting up end of June/beginning July, there will be money available to fill many openings. I applied during the middle of a Biennium cycle, but got a job as soon as funding for my position was available.
Most DOT jobs require either a internship or some form college degree. A degree in Civil Engineering would come in very handy, but most any 2 year degree in a technical field could lead to secure and decent paying job with potential long term career opportunities (Something all the other dead-end jobs I had before I would get laid off did not have).
Administrative and Clerical jobs are also available, but being in the technical field I haven't really checked into those.
As far as I know a clean driving record is required for jobs involving driving a State vehicle. Just check out the link and take the online exam if you are interested and maybe it will pay off...like it did for me after searching for 1-1/2 years.

I just quit at the Edmonds Schucks.
I was making $8.50. It's a VERY casual work-place, and you get to deal with car related stuff all day... Plus you get a 20% discount off of hard parts/tools etc.
Filling out applications is not hard... You literally just have to "apply" yourself.
Home Depot is always looking for people.

I applied at Schucks, Napa, Home Depot, Jiffy Lube (again), BMW of Bellevue (again), and a couple other places I cant remember off the top of my head. Unfortunatly, I must suck at filling out applications, lol.

If you are an MP (I'm guessing reservist), look at the DOD website. Tons of jobs on Ft. Lewis.
Hell, you probably could become a gate guard there. From what I've seen there isn't much to that and I bet they make at least GS7 pay there.

The problem with that is Im over an hour away from Ft. Lewis. Transportation is a problem for long commutes like that. The truck doesnt do well on the highway.

NMCI?!? TEK Systems?!? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!! Not sure how it is there in Bremerton, but in Japan it's run by morons. There is a reason why they are constantly hiring over here for helpdesk and CSR's. Everybody leaves because they are treated like crap by the management (EDS). I was with them, now I'm not. I'm now on the good side, with the base G-6. Things are much better now in every aspect.
Damn T.J., you need to get overseas. Make some COLA. Beats having to get a 2nd job. Are you Reserve or something? Sounds like it.
