So when i got my first rx7, it was in 99... It was a 79 Limited 2X2.. LOOOOOVED that car... After i got it i started dreaming of getting a FD...... Then i could find them wrecked for 3-4K, good ones for 6-8K and the exellent ones went for 1-15K.......

So....... Whats the deal with these cars sky rocketing in price? Is it only going to get worse you think, or will they come back down? Tell me its not becuase of that stupid Fast and furious movie,lol......

they were rare cars when the came out, and after 10+ years of being wrecked they became even more rare so the prices rise and in my opion its only going to get worse, and parts will become even harder to find

 

way lame... My wife is against me getting one right now (i have to get her a 02 impreza first), but thats the only thing stopping me.... I just hate to think of what i am going to be paying in a year when its time for shopping

 

I think you have it backwards? Back in '03 I remember them being 15-20 regardless of shape. The fact that you can find some runners in cali for like 10-12 blows my mind. FWIW. If you ever feel FDs are overpriced look at MK4 Supras.

 

I can buy one locally with new engine/turbos for $7k, just needs a tune.

 

Back then i was sighned up with a company that kept there eyes out for deals on them and i watch ebay mostly.. I found that they were priced around that back then, but i wasnt looking everywhere so i am not sure what the open market held i guess.... And to supras, skylines,ect.......Ug, not in my lifetime,lol....

They dont exist here in the NW. I kid you not. I have bought the last 2 that have come up, and half of a 3rd. All of them have required more work then what I could just as easily buy that one for $7k for and be better off.

1st and 3rd gens have begun to apreciate. It's actually good news if you ask me. Get them while they're cheap and sit on them. Might just be a collector car one day. think of all the ruined FD's. Just riced out and slaughtered. I'm willing to bet a clean stock FD R1 will fetch $30k in 10-20 years.

 

I may have a rolling chassis for sale sometime in the future, still haven't decided to make it into a race car or sell it. Waiting for the front clip to be put on the chassis still. ugh

 

Stock is the only way i would want mine,lol.. Well some engine mods and a couple reversable mods(wheels, tinted windows,ect)... But nothing permantent... Sigh, someday.....

Just a thought. Take a break on the search for a while, stockpile the cash and wait 'till just before Christmas/New Years and jump on something that someone HAS to get rid of because they need the cash. Sales on everything from homes to cars are typically less during that time of year. You are probably already aware, but thought I'd throw out the idea. Might work. Might not. Also, didn't you find your widebody in Canada? Just another thought because when the snow flies the 7's sit.

 

Yeah i go it on the last ferry away from victoria,lol..Cant remember the name of the island... That is my "sub plot", i was just kinda looking now to see what is out and about, and its kinda distressing,lol..

**** i would toraly settle for a shell, i do body and paint work, so i can always build my own car, and i dont "need" the rew engine, so i can use whatever i got lying around, it would just kick *** to have one for a while!

**** last week i just saw a montego blue with a to4 turbo that needs a tune, for 8000... its gone now tho

i picked mine up with good engine 17K on rebuild , but blown turbos. for basicly 6300..

 

Eventually. i think the Fb is going to take longer to apreciate because it's not that potent of a sports car right out of the box. The most I've seen was a really clean 83Limited with like 50k origional miles sold for $6k recently. Other than that i've seen really clean GSL-SE's with under 100k sell for just over $4k. Then Aaron bought Chris' car for some good money. Not sure exactly what though.

Plus they sold 500,000 FB's they're harldy rare yet. In 25 years people will want them. If there's any gas left.
