High Performance 13b 4 port - Wrong Oil Pan
I have built several ported old style 13bs over the years, put one in a GLC, a couple in a REPU, and then built one with all the RB internal goodies, everything to make it bullet proof. I have had it sitting here for years, planned to put it an a nice old Porsche 912 I also have sitting here, but I have decided not to do that project. So I thought I would pull the ported 12a out of my GSL and install this 13b --- might as well have some fun driving it. Well, as you might expect, the oil pan is not the right one. To clear the crossmember and steering, I have to have a GSL-SE oil pan.
A year ago I would have gone to Don Hayes or Ken Durkee and got one for cheap. Now I don't know where to get one even for expensive! I called the guys at Covey, asked if they have an oil pan for a GSL-SE and what do you supposed they asked me? "1. What year is it? 2. Is it a 12a or a 13b?" I think if I asked these idiots for a camshaft for my RX-7 they would go out back to look for it.
I assume Atkins will have it, but before I drive to Tacoma, anyone here have a better idea?
Hope to see you guys tomorrow in Issaquah - I will probably drive the V8 car, so you can all acuse me of blasphemy.
