Just goes to to show the arogance of the West Side. I do see smog in one place.....SODO, and can you tell me how emission testing in Walla Walla county is going to help SODO? Are you ready to pay for oygenated gas. We don't have any smog over here in the desert but we sure do have alot of dust, mabey the state should regulate Mother Nature. Your problem is you think that your normal. Whats normal about making a guy with a brand new car pay a fee to have his car inspected? Also I once heard that carbon was what plants liked.

Turns out that plenty of people in non-emissions counties still drive into larger cities and contribute (especially the ones that have stripped all the emissions off their car) to the city's smog problems. Not only that but any pollution your cars do make can easily travel by wind.

Why should I have to pass emissions if YOU don't then? That's along the same lines as your argument.

My argument is that no one should have to pass emissions. Come on, do you really think that the thousands of cars that clog I-5 are from out of town. Every time I go there I use the carpool lane and its way less crowded. I also carpool to work, not for the environment but because it saves me $. Emissions testing takes $ out of everyones pocket and stifles the aftermarket economy. If there were so many people outside Puget Sound area we would have a different Governor who wouldn't owe the tree huggers. I guess "normal" is misery loves company.

BTW, dDuB I still think your ok, even if you do want to make me have my car inspected.

Ozone "CRAP"

This crap about the Ozone is just that "CRAP"! When the THEORY becomes a PROOF then and only then will I believe that the Ozone is depleting. Some intellectual moron wanted money for research so he made all this crap up. At curtain time during the year the Ozone hole gets bigger and during other times of the year it gets smaller, average everything out and it hasn’t gotten bigger, it has stayed the same. They are all whacked out about a natural cycle that mankind has nothing to do with.

It's all about an 'acceptable amount' of emissions. Law makers are generally idiots.

I can attest to that. We all race in front of him not to try to look faster it just sucks to drive behind him with all his exhaust *cough cough*

But I don't really understand what you guys are going at. This is for newer cars only.

And for those talking about us having the most "Harmful gases" If you have ever really looked into it then you would know the USA is one of the best countries in takeing car of those gases. Go find some "World Green house Gas simulations". There was like 3-5 satelites that were targeted just to show the Greenhouse gases and what was funny is that Massive clouds of these gases floated over the pacific to the US and dissapeared. Although there was some greenhouse gases that did float over to europe, the cloud compared to that of asia's to us was about 1/64th the size if I remember. Weither it be the US or all of North America, We are not the greenhouse gas problem. If you listen to eco. freeks or dumbocrates that just want to to hear what they tell you, you aren't being true to yourself. I wish there was a East Washington so we wouldn't have to deal with all of this Liberal crap from King county and other stuff.

If I affend any of you westerners I am sorry, sorta. I just don't get how you guys can believe such bull, it's like you don't even think.

Hell yeah 1000hp 13b's that pass emisions!

I can't wait till that stuff is availible at the pump!

Is this a pathetic attempt at sarcasm or a total lack of common sense? Do you really enjoy being so ignorant and oblivious to obvious effects of CFCs and CO2 on the ozone? Have you EVER been through any sort of schooling?

Everyone in this forum is now dumber having read your post. For this pathetic attempt, i reward you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul.

On a more serious note, i really hope that you dont feel this way. I suggest that you do a little bit of research into the ozone layer and the effects of man-made emmisions and such on the ozone. Yes, i do realize that there is a cycle, but the cycle is not meant to handle as much "****" as we throw at the ozone. Global warming isnt exactly a marketing scheme.

RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH! Please dont post such blasphemy.

I'm glad I got my rotary in Oct of '03. I have been modifying ever since. The main problem with the 8 is that Mazda screwed up the lifespan of the converter, forcing a reflash at the Port of Entry into the US. My car is running PIG RICH right now. When I start tunning this engine to correct for Mazdas mistake, I will be polluting less than when I bought it. So go figure that one out. A new car that does not burn all the fuel it gets fed. There is no more fresh air anywhere anyways - the damage has been done.

Boy, I'm glad I moved out of the U.S. to be in a "free" country. There are silly rules here just like anywhere else. But over here there is freedom from the government trying to invade every aspect of people's lives. I'll drive my FC until I see fit to stop. Hey, just keep a volcano from gassing out just one time and that should cover most passenger car emissions for several lifetimes.

We humans, by large, are arrogant creatures. We think the things we do affect the whole world and the only way to save it is by our hands. Often true, often not. The Earth is pretty amazing at fixing itself. All of this enviromental lunacy seems to be directed towards land based objects. All of the land based plant life could be wiped out and there would be plenty of oxygen still being produced. Most greenie weenie tree hugger types fail to mention the important role of phytoplankton. About 70% of the Earth's oxygen is produced by these little buggers in the water. They all focus on tree and what not, when it is the wide open ocean that nobody sees much that is the most important factor to the health of the environment.

Let's say global warming occurs. More phytoplankton will take advantage of the warmer waters. They in turn remove carbon dioxide from the ocean (it comes from the atmosphere) and release oxygen. This keeps the atmosphere in balance. Whatever people can do to try to help does NOTHING compared to what these simple organisms do naturally. There might be some areas where people live that the air sucks. But that's such an insignificant amount of the atmosphere as a whole. F$%^ Los Angeles anyway. That town is a hellhole. Everytime I've been there I couldn't wait to leave.

I really love this one...straight from a Gov page below a pic of GW on Earth day...
http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/climate.shtml

"While the United States is the worlds largest emitter of manmade greenhouse gases accounting for almost 20 percent of the world's man-made greenhouse emissions, we also account for about one-quarter of the world's economic output. We recognize the responsibility to reduce our emissions. We also recognize the other part of the story -- that the rest of the world emits 80 percent of all greenhouse gases. And many of those emissions come from developing countries."

Sure, like our administration everybody has their own way of interpreting information. It's just surprising to me how many people don't even bother to educate themselves just a little bit first before voicing an opinion...

Well obviously you havn't done any research for the last 2 yrs. If I remember correctly Last year was the year that marked the smallest year the Hole in the ozone has been sense it started to get recorded. So 3-5 scientists went out and did a big thing and have found that C02 and CFC's produed by humans doesn't effect the ozone but by a small bit. But that and all of the other stuff are just Thoughts and research. IMO no one but God really knows how that works...

I didn't know you were such an advocate of Nuclear Energy. France is the lowest because they get their power from Nukes.

Hey, who says we can't take top honors in both greenhouse emissions and nuclear waste at the same time? (Definition: Wastes from spent fuel arising in nuclear power plants) ;-)

lol. in 50 years tops the planet will run out of oil, there will always be that 10% left but it'll be too expensive to drill out. (it taks energy to get energy). So in 50 years there will be no more fuel, supposidly it takes 25-30 barrels of oil to create a car. oil is also needed to produce pesticides. so what happens when there are no more cars that run, and the world is faced with global mass starvation?

don't know.

the environment can take care of itself for now, till then we shall play with our 7s'
