Question help me choose my weapon

Alright guys im trying to choose my turbo set up. This is for my 2jz'd fd (blah blah blah blasphemy who cares, keep it to your self) the two turbos i have narrowed it down to are, twin garrett gtx-r 3071's or single garrett gtx-r 4294. The twins will have a better low and mid range but will take both to hit my power goal, and the single will have more lag with more top end flow and will only take the one to hit my goal. Help me choose my weapon.

You're better suited to look for advice on turbo 2jz on the supraforum as there is probably more knowledge there.

With that said, neither turbo can be recommended without knowing what your goal is... right?

If you're trying to clip your toe nails (but don't mention it at all) and you ask me if you should use "Honey bunches of oats" or "Frosted mini wheats", neither of the options would really help you towards your goal... Well I suppose if you use the mini wheats as a kind of file you could eventually get there.

Imma stop now, but you get my point right?

What are you trying to do?

I'm making about 400whp on my GT3076 at 1bar on my 1.5JZ. Real useable torque as low as 2500rpm.

Hope that gave you some info.

Oh no i left information out intentionally, the question is more do i wanna go with the response of the twins and have less top end or go with the big single and have more lag but rip your face off style as it hits. Just looking to see what people think would be more fun. My power goal is pretty high as i have built the hell out of the motor for a reason

The car is being built for fun, not sure of the intention track wise yet but that will be my main factor in choice, i do appreciate the input.

I started with the twins on my 1.5 and the single while not huge still comes in low and makes a Metric **** ton of torque and still makes hp up to 7200. You'd probably be really happy if you went with a GTX 3076 or equivalent... Maybe even a GTX35 soemthign if they do it. That may introduce a bit of annoying lag down low.

Yeah they make a gtx35 now, that might be a bit much for a twin set up but it could possibly have the same amount of lag as the single gtx42 so its worth looking into.

i would say the single. after having friends with both aftermarket twins and big single turbos on their 2j's, id say that the single powerband is more fun to drive. mostly because of the huge surge of power you get all at once. if your planning to do much on boost cornering or track racing then twins is the way with a smoother boost onset and less instant tire ripping force.

Yeah... the surge kinda sucks if you're not on LSD.

You should get a diff too

Cobra 8.8 irs in the works mostly for the 3.55 ratio to get me closer to the supra 3.23 ratio. Who wants a 6spd with a 5spd top speed right?

I was swaping the fc but i started to look for a fd as i got a itch that needed to be scratched, came across one and bought it. Figured i should swap the fd instead so i tore the swap out of the fc. I think i picked the fd up in october .
