Hey I just got a "jdm" motor. I am not sure it's an s4 could you all tell by looking at it? Also can you tell the differnts between high and low res injector?

 

ohm test the injectors to see if they're high or low. as far as visuals goes, S4 intake manifolds are not equal length while the S5 has more of a stack look. what I mean is they stepped the manifold runners so they are equal. short at the front and tall in the rear.

also the oil pedestal is reinforced on S5 rear irons and the spark plug holes are closer together on the S5 housings, not that you can really see it clearly.

and S5 has the twin scroll manifold as well.... i think, maybe wrong about that one.

 

Easy way to tell. Look at the exhaust manifold. The flange where it bolts up to the turbo.

Its it slanted, or is it straight up and down with the floor? Slanted = s4 straight = s5. The slanted exhaust manifold will also have an arm attached to move the twin scroll flapper. (s4)

doesn't s-5 have an electic omp, and 10 blades on the fan as opposed to 8 on the s4 motor.

 

electric omp is correct. im assuming this is a turbo motor? look at the tps. its a dual plunger and they arent parallel, they the top one is angled on an s5

 

Peek into the sparkplug hole to look at the face of the rotor.

If it's machined (look for many tiny parallel cut lines) then it's an S5.

S4's are not machined and are more smooth.

 

well fml this swap is going terrable. after getting some really really close face time. there is some work that was done to my stock car and the import motor.. fml.... o well i am going to try to start that guy today... fingers crossed

 

finally got pics up sorry for the wait.. i am pretty sure its an s5 they sold me. ether way now i am pissed and i am going to sale it all. 2 turbo motors a running na motor tranny ecu. bunch of stuff. start over with a turbo chassis.
