What ever happened to Hayes Rotary?

Anyone ever see any of them running around town?

I have had the guys from First Stop work on my car and plan on having them rebuild the motor in my 90. I was totally impressed with their work. Don't let the sins of someone ruin the good guys. It is also my not so humble opinion that they are probably some of the best around in order to overcome what happened in the past. Something I knew nothing about until now.

You're an idiot if you're dealing with anyone from hayes. Their theam song is anotherone bites the dust. their mechanics build their engines. a friend had hayes build an engine and they didn't tighten down the oil pressure regulator. the engine lasted 6000 miles and they told her that it was her aftermarket oilpressure gause that caused the low oilpressure that caused the fail. When the other shop took it apart it was finger loose. maybe 3 threads turned in... read and search and you'll see why they went under. from countless failed engines to never sending engines, but keeping peoples moeny and cars. Last I knew there were 5-10 pending cases against hayes.

Theres a shop in moscow that bought a hayes engine to install in a customers car last year, it was a s5 NA. Guess what, NO COMPRESSION! They tried for weeks to get ahold of Hayes and weren't able to get any response. Well the customer ended up getting screwed and is now trying to sell his car for like $750, with a shitty *** hayes engine, sucks for them.

Cool

I guess I got two of the good engines, been drifting my 12a that they built for over 25k miles and it gets hammered all the time, had it up to 10k rpm a couple of times by accident and 8-9k rpm numerus times. Still going strong with no smoke. The street port I installed in Meg's car is running like a champ.
Guess I got lucky.
You can't build every engine bad, maybe they got rotary religion back and learned from the past.....that's what us criminals do, pay our debt(not in Hayes case) and try not to repeat.
Not defending, just be honest with my dealings, I knew something was up when I would roll in the the shop to chat and see the same cars there for months at a time. They were not very good managers and cut too many corners and got busted. They deserved being shut down for ripping people off, if they are trying to turn a new leaf under different managment, then time will tell whether they are attempting to put the past behind them and use the knowledge they have accumulated over the years to produce a superior product or just the same hit and miss junk they have been known for over the past 4-6 years.
Let's watch and see.
It would be nice to have another Rotary shop in the area, we as a group can make or break a shop with the power we have on this forum(Ask Atkins). Atkins is trying hard to win back trust again after the row that went on with them.
If people are willing to trust, let's see where it goes, if not I'm there for the next IRS auction to get whatever I can.

Just my 2 cents
Lloyd

hayes is the reason my brother & I are doing V8 (LS1 & LT1)swaps..... he took his car to them last year, got screwed for $2k, had the motor taken out of his car(he probly sold it to somebody else!) and some other aftermarket parts that never got returned, or the KEYS! 8 months and they didn't finish it, the whole time he had another $2k ready IF they had finished. so...we see the bankruptcy signs and go get the car..... we then had to figure out what to do to fix the problem- thus the engine swap.

My rebuilds from them were running, I know that. The one currently in my car (previous owner rebuilt it) is still running strong with 40000 miles on the motor. Just my experience.

One of the owners of Stage Performance (where I take my car) has a raceport from Hayes that runs perfect, but it's only got about 1000 miles on it with BNR Stage 3's and 402whp. He only drives it to and from shows. Will be selling it soon. Probably next spring/summer.
