Hayes Rotary

Has anyone in the area dealt with Hayes Rotary? I'm looking to get my S5 rebuilt soon.

Check the good guy/bad guy section. Hayes doesn't have a very good reputation.

your best bet is to take it to Mike Janosek and his shop M-Spec Rotary
unfortunalty his phone is messed up at the moment
but he rebuilt my engine and iu havent had any problems iwth it along with many other forum members and no on has had any problems with his motors and hes very resonably priced to and very very knowledgable

Please do a search in the forum or go to the following link here in the NW section. https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...65#post4434965

I also had Mikey rebuild my car. So far so good....
Please do a search on Hayes Rotary before deciding to take it to them. If your smart you will find another shop to build for you besides them.

Go to Hayes and expect oil control o-ring failure, shitty out of spec parts used, poor craftsmanship, and getting jacked in pricing.

I've taken apart 2 Hayes "rebuilds" and they were interesting to say the least...

That's what I thought... I could've sworn there was a thread in this section a few months ago announcing this?

I'll drive by after work and take a look-see.

I know their answering mechine still picks up. Someone leave a message and see if they call back.

Their answering mechine still works, although I wouldn't expect a call back. The shop looks dead, besides all the cars in there and parked in the parking lot. The office looks like they started to move or a tornado hit it.

If any one of those cars were mine, I would take it out quickly.

Thumbs up They Call Me back!

I've been talking to Don for the past week. hayes has been having some tax problems, and are currently "closed" I live in Sandpoint Id and my car is over there. They have been working on the cars despite the business being out of commission. Don is shutting down his fathers business know as Hayes Rotory.......but he is moving his location to get a fresh start and running the business himself. Dont fret they'll be back, just give them some time, if anyone desides to hire lawerys like some of the ******** have, ill be pissed, i would like my rebuild on my second gen and porting done as soon as possible dont screw that up. Please! They will get your cars done.

Why would anyone want them BACK? So we can see more shotty engines built that have oil ring failures between 10 and 30k miles at most? And upon tear down find housings that had to have been nearly out of spec already? Or irons that have too much step wear? Let alone what they do on other work besides engines

I don't want any of them back unless they learn some business ethics, it's terrible for the rotary community.

I'm not intending to be offensive, but your car is at a shop that is being closed for tax evasion and has untold bad publicity on this forum, and your first response is to hope they get back to work on your car? Do you often gamble?

I hope Don cleans the place up. I really like him and he seems cool. Plus it would be nice if we had a good rotary shop in Kirkland.

It just sucks that they were all "God Bless" and very religious then screwed people over like that.

I do for the most part. But there are some things I don't have the tools (lift, oil disposal, etc.) for or would much rather pay someone else to do.

I would start them out slow, you know things like changing the fuel filter and oil changes.

Thats what i did with Hayes, just little things. After a while i had to look over my car and their work before i left the lot to make sure nothing was messed up. A couple times I've found a few plugs unplugged, bolts missing, etc. Don has timed my car a billion times for free though :P
