The Hardest Thing
Okay, this probably belongs in the lounge, but I never spend any time there, and I just need to tell some people I know.
On Friday we had to put my dog to sleep. We've had Touchdown since I was 10, so he made it to 15. Unfortunately he had arthritis in his hips, a collapsing disc, and a large mass on his liver. While they could have run tests to determine what the mass was, the Vet told my parents there was nothing they could do for the pain he was in. He was falling down on his own, and having a lot of trouble getting up. He got stuck in the doggy-door a number of times, and was losing control of his bowls on an almost daily basis. With all the pain he was obviously in, you couldn't pick him up without his yelping, I know we made the right decision, but it was still the hardest thing I've ever been through.

Sorry to hear about one of your family members. Yes, its hard to put them to sleep when they have been a big part of your life. Just remember good times, and that you did the best thing. Hugs

my mother had a parrot for 35 years as well as i grew up with it. the bird never made it to the hospital. we where giving it medicine one night and it had a heart attack. it started flailing and skreeching and it died in my mothers arms. to this day it might be one of the saddest things that ive ever seen. so i feel your pain. and i am very sorry to hear about your dog. and i hope that you feel better in your time of loss.
