Good shop on seattle's eastside or seattle
Hello,
I'm looking for a good shop who can install an LS1 in my engineless 3rd gen using the 'bolt-in' kit from hinson-supercars.com.
Any good recomendations? I'm hoping to find somewhere on the eastside (kirkland, bellevue, woodinville, etc)
Thanks!
Jeff

The painful truth is most of these swaps are done as hobby projects. If a professional is really competent, he will not be working for $25 per hour. I have done a few swaps and I would be very surprised if you can get it done properly, even with a "bolt in kit", for less than $5000 in labor. If you can't do it yourself, then presumably you have never done it yourself, and it is difficult to comprehend all the little time-consuming problems that have to be solved.
There are shops around that have experience building street rods, and that is basically what you are doing, so far as the engine is concerned. You mostly need someone who understands that engine and is good with electrics.
I am selling my Ford powered 1st gen to a friend for about $10,000, and that gives me most of my investment back, but he is getting about a year of my spare time for free!

You can always ship your car over there and get it done...

Kinda depends on whether you're looking for someone who has done the swap before or someone who hasn't but will fullfill your needs in terms of being in the general locale of Seattle. You might want to post in the Other Engine Conversions section of the forum or torquecentral or LS1tech for a local garage. Try doing that and if all else fails, I'm sure Jimlab would probably know the answer to this, you can try PMing him. GL!
