FB wont run. Need help.

Like the title says my FB wont run. I removed the rats nest and rebuilt the carb and it ran great for about a day then it wouldnt start. Ive checked for vacuum leaks and there arnt any as far as I could find. Compression was at 90. I replaced the gas. Car got a tune-up. I'm at a loss. Anybody in the area willing to come out and help me with this. I dont have much money but I can buy some beers and lunch. lol.

Post up some pics of your rats nest removal.
How many miles on the engine?
How hard did you beat on it after the removal?
When did you last refurbish your carb?
Do you have a header installed?
will it start up after adding a capful of oil straight through the carb?
How old are your plugs?

Just trying to help.

I'm on 56th and Thompson Ave. About a mile from the Tacoma Mall.

The car had a full tune-up about 5 days before it died. Plugs and everything but the cap. Never got a chance to make it to Atkins to pick one up. Autoparts stores kept giving me a honda cap. lol. It ran great for 2 days. Took it to Aberdeen and back the day after the tune-up. The next day it wouldnt start so I rebuilt the carb and removed the rats nest. All the emissions crap is gone except the #2 cat. First one was removed before I got the car. Didnt know till I was under the car a couple weeks ago. Put the carb back on and it ran great after I got it tuned again. Ran for 2 days and then it wouldnt start again. Found out the gas I had put in was bad so I drained the tank and flushed the fuel system and replaced the fuel filter. Put fresh gas in and still nothing. I put some oil down the carb and it sounded like it made a difference. Every once in awhile ill go out and and mess with it and it will run very rough for about a minute then it will die and not start again.

Here is the best pic I have of the rats nest removed.

did you remove the carb and flush it clear of bad gas also? sounds to me like the fuel pump is dead or on its last leg or somthing is jacked up inside the carb.

The fuel pump pressure was low and unsteady so I replaced it. I didn't remove the carb but I did flush new gas through it and I know the floats are set right. Fuel come half way up the sights on the bowls. I've tried starting the car with the fuel pump fuse removed so what was left in the carb was drained out.

Did you try to start it with a different set of spark plugs? What do your plugs look like after trying to start for a while? (wet, greasy, sooty or spotless)

Sorry. Been busy for the last few days. I only have 1 set of plugs. I should have bought an extra set. I dont remember what number the plugs are but they are the flat faced ones and I have different numbers for leading and trailing. After awhile of trying to start the car they look wet and smell like gas. When the car runs for awhile they will look a little sooty but not too bad.

Sounds like your either not getting spark which would mean in this car your coil could be bad. Your timing might be off. But my idea right now is your ignition system needs a look.

I have strong spark on leading and trailing. Or at least what I think looks strong. lol. As far as I can tell timing is perfect as well. Coils were both replaced.

I don't know if the flat faced ones are only meant for the 13B but that is what I'm using. I couldn't find anybody with the 4 prong ones. Everybody kept trying to sell me the same single prong junk Bosch plugs that were in it when I got it. They didn't even have the right thread. Guy behind me at the parts store happened to hear what I was looking for and had several extra sets he had left over from a couple RX7s he had been working on. It ran great on those plugs so I don't think those would be the problem.

Doesn't matter which style of plugs you use. I'm using the flat-style FC leading plugs and 4-prong FB trailing plugs.

BTW if you want the 4-prong plugs for whatever reason the NGK part number is BR8EQ14.
