Event: "Drag & a Movie"
Well since no one has mentioned an event in a while, I'd like to start one. I dont know about you guys but I thought the old Dukes of Hazards was a riot. As some of you might know, the new remake with Jessica Simpson as Daisy Duke is coming out soon. August 5th to be precise. This lands on a Friday.
Same day as a Test and Tune day at Bremerton raceway. Basicly pay about $20 and you can race against whoever as many times as you want at Bremerton Raceway. Racing goes until dusk which is the same time the movie starts so we would leave about 45 mins -hour early to get a good spot.
About a mile away is the Rodeo Drive In. Hopefully it's playing there on opening night too. Sometimes it takes another week for them to get it. Cool thing is, at the Drive In, you can bring whatever you want to eat, or eat from a wide selection of CHEAP food from burgers to pizza, be as comfortalbe as you want, and pay $7.50 for two movies!
Will post as soon as I can if Rodeo Drive In is going to have the movie opening day or not. If not I'll push it to the following test and tune, the 19th or 20th. The schedule says Test & Tune on the 20th also has non-electronic shootout and Car Club challenge...hmm have to figure out what thats all about.

This will definitely put pressure on me to get my rebuild in and get it broken in on time....

I don't know if you remember me and my car, but me sitting in the FD for a movie, I'd crap my pants w/discomfort and not because of the bowels!
On another note, I got a Hawker Odyssey dry cell so 2 hours of listening to the radio won't hurt. Not a bad investment for $120.

Alight! Its official. The actual date of going to drag race at bremerton raceway and then going and watching Dukes of Hazards at the drive in afterwards is August 19th!!!! Could do it on the 5th but I doubt I'll have all the gremins out of my new engine by then. So DONT WATCH THE MOVIE TILL THEN!
Rules for the raceway (please add if I missed a few)
Must have a license
Must have a seatbelt
Must have a METAL battery hold down
Must be muffled
I'm pretty sure $30 will pay for entry fee and for you car to be inspected/allowed to race. Word was $20 but bring extra.
Drive in is $7.50 per adult for two movies. Lots of consessions including burgers, pizza, popcorn, nachos, candy, soda at the drive in.

I would be TOTALLY down for this, but I cant be racing on my bent spindle unfortunately... wheel bearing is due to explode at anytime... If I can get the money, mabey I'll just come to the race track to watch the rest of you

I so miss Bremerton race way. I'm jealous, and wish I could make it.

So whats everyone's feelings about this? Since no one is not really wanting to go drag and I'm not sure if I'll have the rebuild in by then or if I still have my oil plume Hayes rotary 70,000 mile engine in it at this time. Kinda like to do it just to see what my increase would be before and after the rebuild.
In any case I would really like to see at least 5 Rx7's at the drive in for the Dukes of Hazards on the 15th at the drive in 3 miles from the Raceway. Will post directions to both places soon.

We should do it the weekend of the 28th, one day for the BBQ, another for Drive In and Cruise.
Excellent idea, I didn't even know any drive ins were left in this area.

I would if everyone felt that way. I'm just trying to make sure the movie will still be there when we go.
For the directions, there's so many ways to get there its crazy,
From North Kitsap:
-Take Hwy 3 South past Bremerton
-In Gorst (tiny town that inlcudes a strip club, 76 station and car lots) take the slight right and up the hill toward Bremerton National Airport
-You will go through one stop light and the hwy turns into 3 lanes. At the very top of the hill, take a left onto Sunnyslope Road. If you go past a wrecking yard on your left, you've went too far. If you just choose to go to the drive in, continue on this road and the drive in is 1 mile more on your right.
----Once on Sunnyslope Road, continue on this winding road past the elementary school entrance on your left all the way till you see a Texaco on your right. Take an immediate right and then another immediate right. If you continue on this road for another mile, you will pass a IMPORT junkyard where you will find at least 15 FB's and probably 5 FC's. Though Elysian has picked through all these cars for the good stuff he says.
-Continue till the end of the road and your at the Bremerton Raceway. Once through the gate and past the admission booth, pits are to the left, just watching you turn to the right.
From Shelton:
-Take Hwy 3 north toward Bremerton
-Pass through Allyn, and then Belfair
-Bremerton National Airport will appear on your right
-The drive in will be coming up very soon on your left
-Pass the blue Domestic junkyard on your right
-Sunnyslope Road is the next right
-Continue using directions above
From Tacoma:
-From I-5 take the Hwy 16 exit towards Bremerton/Gig Harbor
-Cross the Narrows bridge (construction zone 40MPH even though ppl go 60)
-Pass Gig Harbor, Purdy, (50MPH speed zone), Port Orchard
-In gorst take the Hwy 3 Bremerton National Airport, Shelton, Belfair exit to your left and go over the overpass
-Turn left at the stop light
-Continue to the top of the hill and Sunnyslope Road is on your left a the top. The drive in is on your right if you do not turn on Sunnyslope.
-Use directions from arriving from North Kitsap above for the rest of the way
More details coming.
Anyone with a rotary vehicle is welcome to come, and if you dont, I'm sorry and you're welcome too.

Well I'm definitly not making it to the Drag portion of this event. Rebuild in still in progress. If anyone is really going I'll still attend the movie portion otherwise I'll get to sleep when I'm supposed to to work the next day.....
