I am having my FD rebuilt, streetport, single turbo, custom FMIC set-up, custom downpipe (v-band,) etc, blah blah blah, all at Illtech in Tacoma at a very affordable price for me.

If that doesn't interest you, I am pretty sure that any exhaust shop will make a downpipe and find a flange for you.

It's not exactly the same. Our product has slotted bolt holes so it can fit a wider range of stands. We include all the bolts and nuts, ship for a flat $8.10 and toss in a thermal bypass elimination kit...oh yeah, we also came out with this product long before they did. Funny how Dan won one of our adaptors at the Apple Blossom Fesival raffle a few years ago and then they suddenly start selling engine stand adaptors. True, it is similar to the old factory stand head, but they are not developing a new product to support the community, like we did, but simply trying to grab a piece of the pie. I wouldn't have a problem if (1) it were substantially better or (2) substantially cheaper, but it is neither. They charge $10 less and the shipping is way more, last I checked. As far as I can tell, they don't include hardware and if you want to defeat your thermal bypass valve, it will cost you $10 for a plug when they know darn well it only takes a few pennies worth of lockwashers to accomplish the same thing.

I've never said anything publicly about this before, but when Dan comes on here and deliberately tries to grab business away from us with his copycat product, it gets me worked up. I would have never pushed our adaptor if someone had mentioned theirs first.

As of right now, we are price matching Atkins on the adaptors while still including the hardware and thermal bypass kit and flat $8.10 shipping. If they lower their price in response, I will still match it. Have a nice day.

When did you start doing this? I've bought 2 of these from you before, one for me and one for my friend, and both times I didn't get any bolts, nuts, or the thermal bypass. I was able to find bolts and nuts to work easily enough at LOWES, but still it would have been nice, which is what makes me wonder when you started including these things.

To be fair you used to not do this either. My case in point, 2 adapters and no hardware or bypass, and they were bought at the same price as you're selling them now with this stuff. Either that or both times my extras were neglected to be put in the box

Well as for the thermal pellet it was designed as direct replacement, some guys use the lock washers and others weld their units. Our way is just our way, and there is more than one way to do a job.

We started including the hardware about 6 months ago, IIRC. I would have to check the invoice from the supplier to be sure. Pretty hard to forget to toss in the hardware since I have a bin of 300 sets sitting right next to the adaptors. Easier to forget the thermal bypass kit (3 lockwashers and basic instructions), but we will mail a kit to you -- or anyone who wants one -- free of charge, including postage. There is a thread about it in our vendor forum. You can also just pick up a few 8mm or 5/16th lockwashers locally and watch our free installation video online (streaming) at RotaryEngineRebuilding.com or download the video in higher quality from our web store for 99¢. This is the method taught by Mazda to dealer mechanics at the New Model Training when the 2nd gens came out.

Thumbs up

I bought an engine stand adapter from Pineapple racing 3yrs ago and its very well made. I have used it on 4 different engine stands with no problems and it still looks brand new.

Downpipes check this site out http://www.gothamracing.com/catalog/...43_107_113_199

sorry for the toss off comment.....
I have used three adapters

1) home made out of angle iron scrap and stick welded.... looked like *** and flexed too much (made sure i kept my feet out from under the engine when i was near it)

2) RB... works good, looks industrial, has pipe welded on so you can just slide it into the stand

3) Pineapple adapter. works well, looks great (makes the rest of my shop and my car look like ***). mine came with all the stuff previously listed + i bought some block off plates for a stored short block.... all the products are 1st rate.

there, that is my hands on 2 cents, fwiw.

3lb coffee can

All you do is shop at Costco, buy the fruit cocktail in the large can! I got like 5 of those cans.

My first rebuild I attempted to assemble it on my toolbox! Assembling it on an engine stand is the only way to go.

I just bought a bunch of scrap steel to make my own adapter. Interestingly enough, 2 3/8" OD tubing is harder to find than you'd think... but, it outta be pretty cool and will have cost me about 10 bucks in steel.

In case anyone is curious, this Joshshift character is apparently a current or former employee of Atkins and has been polluting a bunch of threads, mainy in our vendor sub-forum. The above post suggests that he was a potential customer. In the other threads, he pretended to have no connection to Atkins. Not very smart because of his 70 or so posts, four of them clearly spell out his affiliation with Atkins.

Here are the threads that show otherwise:

As you can see, this is a hatchet job. Take that for what it's worth.
