Engine removal and instalation Problem

well its more like im stuck, I have every bolt off the engine and its ready to come out. i can separate the engine and tranny with a screw driver, starter bolts are off and engine mount bolts are off, One slight problem... is that when i took all the bolts out i needed to take the one out with the metel peice you can hook the engine crane too to remove the engine.., So i cant figure out how to mount the hook so i can pull the engine out... also Anyone have an Engine crane in the area???? i have a small car and i cant get one in there...

I am in NE Bellevue near lake sammamish block from Microsoft bill gates wont help me, . I really could use help for an hour or two, then after a few days after i change all the good parts to the new engine i might need a hand to put her back in. thanks alot guys! ADAM

if you were down here it would be no problem. ayways on the hook. all you need to do is screw it back into the place you took it off of, yet obviously not all the way in. it will hold. usually i just thread the bolt through the chain right there and tighten it about 3/4 inch in.

Yeah, that whole hook issue. I think hes saying that the hook went through and held the tranny to the engine so if he puts it back in to hold the engine, its effectively bolted to the tranny again. What you need to do if this is the case is put the bolt into the same hole, but from the other side. If I remember, the threads are on the engine, not the tranny, and the bolt goes through the hook, through the tranny, and threads into the engine. Just put the bolt on the engine side going through the hook, then into the block. It will go into the tranny, but not thread into it also doubling as an alignment pin.

As far as helping you out, I PMed you back. I can come help you if you are able to work on it while Im not working. Im not working today (Friday, but I have another friend and I might be working on his Miata), or this weekend, however I have a family thing on Sun. night. I dont have an engine hoist, but if you rent one, I drive a truck if you have like $5 for gas to go get it. Ill eat the gas to and from your place, but I just started this job and havent gotten a pay check yet, so money is still REALLY tight.

Give me a call on my cell if you have time today or whatever (206) 484-6449, otherwise just email/PM me and we can talk. I dont know my schedule after next week either, but Im willing to help ya, we just gotta work it out.

PS - Why a few days to change all the parts over? If you have the new engine there already, we could probably get it done in a day, I know Ive got all day. It saves rental fees on the hoist too. Just pull the old one, swap the crap real quick, and drop the new one in. Its just a matter of getting it running then. Im more than willing to get it going with you, let me know, I kinda miss working on these things!

EDIT: If nothing else, just hoist the new block in and get it sitting in the car, then you can swap everything later to save yourself from paying two rental fees.

Well, I just got home tonight, so I guess tonight is out, its almost 10. Im really sorry, I wouldve helped, but I ended up breaking the rear leaf pack on my truck . Anyway, maybe if you dont have it out next week, I might be able to come by after work? Im busy Tuesday, but maybe Monday or after that? Youre gonna need an engine hoist or something though... So, let me know when youre gonna get one, or when you have one, and I can try and swing by. This should be a good time, I havent done this on a 2nd gen yet! I can turn a 1st gen inside out, but havent really done much to a 2nd gen yet. Anyway, let me know man!
