Actually, we bought my 79 from an old man that was the original owner. He said in Jan mazda gave him a call to come pick up his new car. It was the first one off the boat that entered Seattle. He had bought the car from Bellevue Mazda. Last year we took the car to him and his wife to show them the car. You could tell they fell in love all over again with the car, with all the good/bad memories they had. Of course then we got the run down on the cars history. They also gave us a painted pic that mazda gave them after they purchased the car. I think the car had 58,000 miles on it when we bought it from them.

Car was bought it 1978. When I went to put insurance on it. I argued with the insurance company as they said my car was a 1978 not a 79.

All I can tell looking at it is that it's a SA22, you can tell by the back end. My 79 had a similar add on between the taillights to update it to the look of the 81-85.

1980 or before, IMO.

no it is a 81 to 85 the plate is mounted low not between the taillights like the 79-80.

I'd say you're wrong. The rear bumper looks SA22C to me, and the side trim looks like a wedge, although the picture is poor enough to make it possible that it's the flat FB style.

The clincher is that you can see the exterior screwholes in the rear taillights. Only on SA22C.

I like the wheels, other than the Ben Hur-style spinner on the rears.

Oh, and the listing shows 12,000? miles. SA22Cs have 5-digit odometers.
