Decent Mazda shops in Washington state?
Hi all, I have a 93 FD and I need to replace the transmission. Is there any decent shops that know how to work on these cars besides the Mazda dealers?
Just in case I live in Everett, 1 hour north of Seattle.
I would love to do it myself but I dont have the time nor the space to do it
Thank you very much for your help.

Try the Northwest forums....
You can give Atkins Rotary a call, they're in Puyallup. They can probably recommend a shop or two.

Most convenient for you would be Mazdatech on Mukilteo Speedway. It's a Lynnwood address and Andy knows his stuff. Not sure if he does trannies though. Give him a call. Should be able to find the # in the NW section. I don't know it off the top of my head Everywhere else is gonna be 253 and further south and not necessarily worth the drive. Except for Pineapple. Well worth the drive!
I'm 5 minutes east of Everett. I'm sure I've probly seen your car around. Which car is yours?

Thanks everyone. I will check Mazdatech first of course since is closer. As for Pineapple, I will take it there maybe in the future for more important stuff like tuning, etc.
Hey Mazdatim, I have a red one (looks stock outside) that was on sale for some time in Pacific HWY (99) close to the ramp to 525. I dont remember the name of the place but they sell lots of sports cars.
Which color is yours?

Yes mine looks stock from outside but from what I can read around, it seems to be the touring version since it has the sunroof and also had the rear spoiler installed. So from far it may look like an R1.
I dont remember seing yours since I would remember the black hood.
Take care...

you must have been who I saw a few weeks back on Pacific in Everett cuz it was a touring with the R1 spoiler and mostly stock looking. If you're ever out my way you should come check out the car
whatever you do id stear clear of atkins as well as anyone who used to work for them. just my opinion based on me letting someone else build my engine (when i should have just took the time to do it) and having results that were less than impresive.

I had Jerry's Little Car Shop in Kent replace my clutch. They did a great job. They do Mazdas only and specialize in the RX's.
Mazda Tech is an awsome guy that knows rotary engines and trannys very well. If you call the shop they will give you a number if you need it... Also Jerry's little cars ahs been around since the rotaries first came into Wa. State, Great guy with a magical touch. Can say enough about Jerry other than a great guy.........
yea, genius out there (pardon my rudeness) left the front cover to iron o-ring for oil either out or let it slip. then when i asked him about it he told me the FSM was wrong about oil pressure that rotary only need 10psi to stay alive. i had like 25psi at 3k. hes a fuckbag and should stick to BMW's (and thats iffy from what i've seen) maybe thats why he doesn't do any warrany on a rotary build and charged me only 250 labor and ruined my good rotors. Bearings are toast e shaft is done. He also messed up my buddy's supra motor he did his "oil mod" and when my buddy fired up his car it had some much oil pressure it blew the oil filter off. by the way im no little jackass running my mouth i was there for all these events and lopie's work was 100% disappointing to me.
By the way I pulled the front cover and put in right o-ring and i had 25-30psi at idle at like 50-70 at high rpm.
damage was already done

go lopie go......
im done ranting..but its frusterating. i had just had a tumor removed at the time and went to him on crutches and high on oxycodone..maybe thats why i got fucked..
the luck
whats funny is ALL my apex seals and oteher seals were still in tact and completely moving free. I will give you guys at Atkins PROPS for making great products!!!!

Jerry's Little Car Shop or Atkins is where I'd take my business. Or Pineapple, but that's a bit far.
And just because I can't miss a chance to recommend against Mazdas and More in Federal Way...
