Couldnt sleep so I built a spare motor...

Did this in about 2 hours tonight by myself.

Large/monster street port 13b Turbo.
S4 (86-88) high compression NA rotors.
RA apex seals/ w stock mazda OEM springs
S5 (89-91) hardened stationary gears
Cryro treated bearings.
S6 (93-95) Corner seal springs.
Brand new seals through and through.

Built it out of spare parts I had around the shop. I will drop it in my TII and see how it pulls . Big port+ NA high compression rotors= more hp.

Soo what do you guys do when you cant sleep?

Well, it's fast yes. Since you road in it I have installed the Rtek, injectors, fuelpump and bumped the boost from 8psi to 12 psi. It moves very nicely now.... It never is enough though.

Third time is a charm Erik. Some good housings, a good breakin, and keeping the boost reasonable will reward you!

That's a pretty quick assembly job. I think it takes me longer than that just to clearance the side seals...

I had a set already done. After checking them, every one was perfect. It was awsome.

But yeah, it takes a good hour or so just to do those normally.

wow

I would say that was pretty quick! Damn it takes me 4-5 hours just cleaning all the parts. As for checking specs it takes me about an hour. And for checking side seal clearance I'm w/Blake about 2hrs or so. The actual assy takes me about 3-4 hrs and this was after my 4th rebuild. I guess call me slow, maybe I'm just **** when it comes to the build up. I blame the aircraft maintenance side of me.

HI comp turbo rotary engines being junk is a bunch of ricer rotard logic. The only difference between 8.5:1 and 9.4:1 compression ratios is the amount of boost needed to reach a certain chamber pressure at top dead center. The higher the static compression, the less boost needed to lay the smack down on a string of 20 corvettes on a sunny saturday afternoon on a country backroad.

Um...what are you calling bullshit? I don't recall suggesting anything other than he assembled the motor pretty fast. And because he claims the seals were already clearanced and -- one presumes -- everything else were done in advance, stacking the motor goeas really quick.

Agreed, it can be done in an hour if all the O rings fit and don't drop out when doing the middle and top iron. Putting on the oil pump with its damn key / keyway always gets me though.

Motors in the car and all it needs is the starter installed, down pipe bolted up, and fluids. Took about 3 hours today to get everything completed.
