celebration thread. be watching for this resurrected FD on the roads this year!

So after 3.5 years of slaving away, I finally got my FD back on the road and hit up the nearest gas station. didn't want to go much farther as she still runs real rough. but hey, it's somethin.

Blew up the motor in August (I think) 2005, and decided to just go for the gold and do the paint, bodywork, and engine build up all at once. I'm not sure I made the right call on that one. but I won't bore you with details, here are some before/during/and after pics. still a work in progress obviously.

thanks. yeah, wheels will have to wait until the cash flow catches up. I want to get it running strong first. the headlights are the RE-A copies from rotary extreme without the covers on. the covers don't fit very well and my car's been bent on the entire right side at least once so that doesn't help

congrats SAMI, love the last picture in the first post.

Most of us have been there. F'D instead of FD. LOL

Glad to see you had the dedication to go all the way.

Why do you think it's running roughly?

Porting? EMS?

Anyways, it looks great.

+1 for washington.

yeah EMS. I started with a new powerFC (with datalogit) and am slowly learning how to use it. I'm not sure if I will trust myself to do the WOT tuning though, so I'll have to come up with a plan to get some help.

thanks. how about that rattle can spray job? I used a duplicolor (I think) semi-flat black and that stuff is magic. It doesn't run easy and will basically even itself out when you suck. turned out great.

Regarding your tuning woes there is a thread in the single turbo section somewhere started by Wargasm that has a complete PDF write-up of tuning with your PowerFC. It's quite thorough and easy reading. Might wanna check it out, OR there are a couple of possible summer tuning sessions in the works for either Steve Kan or BDC

yes, thanks for that. I have read Brian D's/Wargasm's .pdf on tuning. in fact I keep going back to it. Easy reading for sure, especially when comparing to some of the other tools out there. I also subscribed to chuck westbrook's "notes" and yahoo group, which is invaluable. It is still quite overwhelming at times. I may try and get in on some of that BDC action, we'll see.

Smart Yeah it's still a bit crazy to comprehend a lot of the data and how it effects different aspects of the tune etc etc... There's a lot to take into consideration. Definitely keep an eye out for a tuning session
