Calling any reputable tuners

Long story short, im picking up an Fd on Thursday/Friday that has a 95 stock rew swapped into it with 30k original miles(work done by FD3S engineering). Motor is converted to single turbo with a t70, v-mount, PFC and supporting mods. (fuel etc) I've searched and cant really find any recent updated shop lists, or shops that still tune for that matter. Pineapple is too busy or wont tune, Jerry's told me he wont tune anything with out stock CPU?? Only two left I've been told to try is Forged and Carb Connection. Anyone have any experiences or heard good things about either? I'm willing to take the car to anywhere in Oregon or Washington.

Skip forged. The reason Pineapple won't tune is because the shop downsized and focused back on building engines. Before he moved I worked for him over six years doing installation, fabrication of fuel systems, cages, piping and tuning for daily driving / reliability (fine tuning was done on a dyno).

If you are local I would lend a hand on my days off to get the car driveable. So a powerFC is a relatively simple device to tweak. However the previous owner might have taken some shortcuts that could lead to an extensive amount of time righting the wrongs.

Don't do Carb Connection. They don't like rotaries. My personal experience was they talk a better game than they play. My friend's Turbo IS300 turned into a disaster there and at that time they wouldn't even touch rotaries. You don't really have a local option. Will Marc not sell you the car with a proper tune?

I forgot to mention that Mark at FD3S Engeneering threw a base tune on, car is drivable but only for crusing at 4psi. The car is in Or and I'm up in bellingham Wa but willing to go wherever needed to get a good tune. I appreciate the input thus far, anyone else??

I've been using track forged for years. Zero problems and I have a super fast car. Problems with them on here stem from cheap *** people that can't afford to do things correctly. Go talk to them for yourself and see what they have to say.

Negative, originally told me he would touch anything without a stock CPU, then explained what I had after calling back and he said he could. Made an appointment, got there and he again said he doesn't touch anything that's aftermarket. Nice knowledgeable guy tho. Looks like track forged will be getting my business in a few weeks

I have had great luck with Kito, working out of R and H Garage in Seattle. Hunter at R and H knows rotaries well too. Here is their web page - Home

I should add Marc from FDS Egr did a great job of setting up my strange little Megasquirt project. He developed a based map and helped to dial it in. We never got to a dyno yet he is very knowledgeable.

You need to contact PRE. Talk to Zach, he was TF's tuner, but left due to several issues with TF. He is the only person I would recommend locally.

No offense, but I am tired of hearing this BS. I'm sorry that's what TF told you, but it's TF who is too cheap to do decent work at least on Rx-7's. AN Fuel lines zip tied to the frame rails- check. Unfused 10g wire between the AN lines- check. Lowest part of the car being a AN 90 jbwelded in to the gas tank for the fuel system- check. These were all done by Forged, on the OP's car and the PO was charged $1500 to do it. Check out the states records on Forged Performance before you go there and you be the judge.

OP- PM me if you have questions.

Don't you love paying good $$ for garbage?

I can recommend PSI for custom work.

They installed an Iridium surge tank with Aeromotive Fuel Pump in my FD last year.

Top notch work.

There is however the issue of a new part that went missing...

My buddy had a brand new Tial 44 mm wastegate that disappeared at PSI too. I heard that they don't do tune rotarys either...but that's just here say.

If anyone is Interested, Steve Kan is coming to San Jose to tune some cars. I will be making the trek from Southern Oregon for this. I know its pretty far for most of you. But i know Steve is a well known tuner that i dont mind traveling for. If anyone is interested, there's a sign up in the West forum. Ill see if i can get a link.

Steve did a great job on the cars I watched him tune up in WA. I have a base map from my old 99 engine that served me well for ~4 years. Very knowledgeably fellow- make sure you have your car in order before taking it to him though.
