BSCC Autocross School - Reg opens 2/19

Registration will be open for the Bremerton Sports Car Club Autocross Novice/Driving School on Monday, February 19.

If you want to attend, go to www.bscc.net follow the links to the Autocross/Novice School and sign up. Space is limited and the Mini Club may try to pack it with their members, so register early. It should cost about $25.

Hope to see a lot of you there.

The event is Sunday, March 11. Registration starts at 7:30 that morning and we will probably run until about 4pm. Sign-up should be open soon. I'll keep an eye on it and post up when it's opened.

The odd thing is- whenever I try to register, it always tries to register me for the 18th of Feb... Can you post a direct link when its available?

-Will this event be a typical autocross, or a open lap style day? I have no idea of what to expect from this event. Will there be pro drivers to coach novices? I'd like to have someone thats done this for a while help me with my driving.. I feel as though I have a ways to go, and some pointers will definatly do me well.

By the way, did either of you run at the practice on 2-18-07? I got a 55.032 (0,0). Did anyone have an issue with short gear ratios? I max out 2nd gear between one of the corners, and wasnt sure if it'd be wise to shift to 3rd, then back to 2nd. I didnt think it was worth the time to shift, but I felt very sluggish while waiting for the corner. Any advice?

Zero Drift - I'll post up the direct link as soon as it's available. We are gathering instructors now, so it will hopefully be soon.

This will not be a typical autocross or lapping day. Each student will be paired with an instructor (we will have pro/national drivers there). There will be a brief ground school, you'll walk the course with the instructor and your group. Then you'll do a couple of runs with them in your car, then they will drive your car and talk through the course while they drive, then you will get back behind the wheel again. The groups will switch and you'll work/drive. Lunch, Repeat, Teardown. I've been through the school 3 times now and learn more each time. It's a great resource.

Sounds like you ran a pretty good time on Sunday. We ran out of second at the very end of one of the straightaways, but I didn't shift - takes too much time and our car gets a little squirrely sometimes so I try (unsuccessfly at times) not to provoke or unsettle it. I don't think Chris shifted either.

Will you be at the event this Sunday?

I'm definatly looking forward to having a pro drive my car at the autocross school. I'd like to have some feedback on my car's balance as well as my driving skills.

I've signed up the other night for the 25th. I'm going into the Time Only PM class. I was thinking of staying in the Novice class since this is the last event of the Slush Series, but wasnt sure of what to sign up as. Regardless, I'll see you guys there!

BSCC Novice School – New Openings

Wow, after a startling response we have made arrangements to open up 12 spots for this weekend’s Novice School to the general autocross community. We are also looking at offer another Novice School on 4/15, more details to follow.

To pre –register for one of these spots please send an email to reg@bscc.net with your name, contact information, make of car you are driving, driving experience level and if you will be sharing a car at this event with another driver. Once these spots are taken I will start a short waiting list.

Thanks for your patience!
