Broken hood release cable - FD

Any one know how to easily get the hood open after the hood release cable has snapped on an FD? The hood is closed tightly and the release cable is inoperable. Looks like I'll need to take a big hammer and beat my way through the hood or maybe just use some C4 to blast a nice hole in it. Maybe there are other less radical methods to get it to open.
Q: So how's the world treating you?
A: Like a baby treats a diaper!

Did the plastic pull handle inside the cabin break? or did the cable break inside the engine compartment / through the firewall? the plastic pull handle breaking inside the cabin is not unheard of and you can just try to get a grip on the remaining metal cable and pull it by hand, or pull on it with a pair of pliers, etc.

The cable broke. The handle is fine.

I got lucky and was able to get vicegrips on the cable.

Take out the driver side headlight and through a 2 or 3 inch hole is the cable but it has a plastic coating that had to be stripped to expose the wire cable. Pull cable and pop goes the hood.

IMHO, there is no way a coat hanger will do the job. The release mechanism has to be pulled and I just don't see how a coat hanger could do that.
