I've done a lot since the last time I ran. Last time I ran, I didn't have operational Aux or VDI. Had a couple vac. leaks, and a dying alternator. Also, clutch fan was stuck on, so dragging on the engine.... hmmmm, couple more things.

Thanks for the info! Hope it works!

Yeah, I myself am trying to sort out my 5+6 th port actuators before sunday. Im going electronic, but waiting for my rpm box from summit.

Re the bearings, you can do it without even removing the hubs. Just remove the wheels, pop of the aluminum cones, yank the cotter pin, remove the bottle cap shield, tighten the nut then go in reverse order!

Yea, I tightened them up....... didn't turn out too well. Drove to work, and my center cap on my wheel popped off, because pressure behind the dust cap was too much. I think because I shoved too much grease onto the nut, or something.

So, now, I don't have the center cap..... anyone want to donate one? or maybe I'll pay a little. 88 GXL wheels. Says mazda on the center cap.

Then, on my way home, I was hearing a metal on metal sound.... kinda sounded like brakes rubbing.... so I slowed down, and took a back road home. the wheels got louder and louder. Then, started pulling randomly either left or right, and making a grinding sound. so, I pulled off to the side and examined the area under the dust cap. And sure enough, there was a ton of metal shavings. So, it looks like it's just the bearings that got shredded. Got towed.... cost $100. Taking the next two days off to put the new bearings in, hopefully it will be ready before race day.

That's what I get for trying to go the cheap / easy fix route though. LoL. That'll learn me..... (bad english, i know. )

Hopefully I'll see everyone on sunday! Hoping to get there at 7:30 A.M. with a couple of other friends.

I think.... MR2, Lexus IS300, BMW 1 series.... (turbo), probe gt (maybe), Audi A4, Civic Si (don't know if he traded shifts yet), AE86, 240SX, another FC, I'm hoping.

Hmm, i think maybe a couple more. Then about 5-10 people to watch and take pictures.

Will do.

I'm going to post pictures of my damage.... haha, it looks really really bad. Glad I ordered the bearings. I can see about 4 of the rollers missing from inside the bearing.

bad news is I got under my car and after beating on things for 45 minutes I found it was a driveline after all.

Wow all that just happened? I wouldn't call it the easy cheap route, I think that's pretty much normal procedure... Im sorry that all happened to you though, really a bummer to have to get towed.. How tight did you crank em? I did the same thing a month ago with no issue. Bummer...

just slightly tighter then they were.

I posted pictures in the 2nd gen forum. Under a title "Does this need to be replaced?"

So, I gotta hit the junkyard out by the raceway and see if they have a ..... spindle? I think that i what it is called? The thing that has the shaft. Completely jacked.

Left side though, perfect. with all the new grease, it seems a little hard to turn. But, I was very liberal with the grease. I coated the bearings, and put a good amount in between the bearings too. the inner and outter bearings.

Turns out I won't be making the event. My schedule is getting very busy as I'm moving. Have fun everyone! I believe my younger brother (ZeroSport) and Kevin (NAFCabuser) will be attending in Steph's '99 Miata.

Yay! found a new spindle assembly at the junkyard. Came with the hub and everything off a 90. Bearings on that one are great! So, I am leaving them for right now. Just so that i have the extra bearings just in case.

Still working on figuring out how tight to make the left side. I don't want to over tighten it, or keep it too loose. Right now, it is slightly past snug, and requires a slight bit of force to get it to spin.

Hoping to get my last mod done before Sunday, but i doubt it.

Well, seems ive gotten my actuator situation sorted out, and right at the last minute! ( not that i wouldnt have driven without... i mean yeah, I haven't had working 5+6th ports for... ever.)

Anyway, special thanks to Goose for dropping by and helping through the unorganized chaos that is the Summit RPM activated switch!

Yea, I planned on running P.M. but remembered I had a differential equations quiz to get done. So, I had to go home and get that done. Also, didn't know if I could afford another $35. But next time I'll just register online.

Nice meeting everyone! My handle can be a bit confusing. haha. I created it a long time ago, before I even had an RX. About 2 1/2 years before. Just always wanted one. And, to be unique, I went for an awkward spelling.

I'm going to be at the next one for sure! Running A.M. and P.M.

Tons of fun! I gotta stop getting so far out from the cones though. Had mostly clean runs, except one, and i hit 1 cone. Other then that, I am really far away from the cones.

Very glad to have met everyone in real life! I can put a face to a name.
