Atkins ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!

HOW ******* HARD IS IT TO BUILD AN ENGINE STAND ADAPTER THAT FITS!!!

First the holes line up with nothing. They are drilled too close together to fit the mounting plate. Second even if you somehow got it fit the bolts supplied are about an inch too long to even tighten the two pieces together.

Soo I still can't mount my engine and I have to take more time out of my day to go back up there to argue with them...you know since they "Designed it off the original Mazda one." I DON'T CARE IF YOU DESIGNED IT WITH NASA'S HELP!!!! IT STILL DOESN'T ******* FIT!

Yeah, but you know since the shop is 1.5 miles away I usually get decent service, but this is ridiculous. Believe me I have plenty to say especially as a local customer. Now I have to convince them to refund me...then order an adapter from pineapple etc and wait...

I have an Atkins adapter sitting in my garage if you want it PM me an offer (its brand new). I think its one of their older designs. I have had it about 7 years and never used it. I'm located in Eugene, Oregon.

It appears to have an... Interesting method for mounting to your engine stand..

But yea, the Pineapple one will just bolt straight up to the plate/tube piece.

Thanks Derekcat. I'm going to put these images here in case anyone searches/googles the same issue. I stand by my statement that this is a **** poor design. I got the engine on the stand after seeing the images, but the way the adapter mounts up makes it difficult to turn and not well balanced at all. I recommend you look towards the pineapple one for anyone that may be looking.

I bought the Atkins adapter as well and I agree that it is a poor design. It took me a while to figure out how to mount it to the stand and (as stated before) it was unbalanced.

Next time I'm definitely getting the adapter from Pineapple Racing.

FWIW, I used the typical engine stand (like the one pictured above) w/o an adapter and it worked just fine to rebuild my engine in my apt. You have to relocate the 1 of the little arms...

Hmm... After looking at it.. Could the adaptor piece be flipped vertically on the little arms so that the actual mount for the engine is ~at the center of the plate so that it actually would be balanced?

Also, Nick what do you mean? Just take off one of the little arms?

looks to me that you should get rid of all the little arms and bolt the black to the yellow if it don't line up on one hole just drill a hole in the yellow plate to fit the 4 th bolt . then it would spin like a clock .

That's how the Pineapple and Mazdatrix all work.

Sure you could drill a hole to make it work if you have the capability to punch 1/4" cold steel. Then you would have to find new bolts or add about 1/2" minimum of extra washers each.

So let's say you take it to a machine shop get a new hole drilled and buy the new bolts of the correct length at grade 10 hardware. You're probably at 32$ plus the original 65 of the adapter....

No thanks.

Something like this. You can get three holes to line up, which is enough to hold the motor. as far as it being 'balanced', not perfect, but it worked for me...
