well..we know that on the west side such as bremerton they aren't so friendly, i would say overall the staters like to pull over a lot of people...

Depends on where you moved from VA. The cops around here seem to be a lot much like the Va Beach cops.

Im from Richmond, but I get what you mean by VA beach cops. I got a exhaust ticket when I had my DSM form one of the stupid ones on a bike.

WSP is usually a lot less rude than city cops, Sherrifs are typically pretty cool as well, it's the locals that seem to feel some sort of superiority or are on a power trip...

Locals around these parts are the worst... And lso in the Kent/Auburn/Renton area they suspect every teen to mid 20 yr old person with a car is a street racer and treat them as such. For instance I got an ice cream bar at a 7/11 and the clerk called the cops on me for eating it at my car in front of his store... The cop threatened to arrest me... Total time elapsed... 10 minutes...

Thats because you live in Bellevue where cops live off the fat taxes of the land... Over here in Bremerton every cop thinks that if you are a 20ish male and driving that you are
a) A navy guy who they hate just because...or
b) You are a street racer and that means you should relieved by monetary punishment of any extra funds you have by way of frivelous tickets... really it sucks to drive anything but a beat up old american junk car over here... guilty before proven innocent

what does the police report say? just put on your stock exhaust and say "**** you" in court! thats what i would do... let them do the testing and spend whole bunch of time and money on you running all these tests and diagnostics on how loud your muffler is.... like the cop knew what brand exhaust you had, what a stupid ****.

Went to court Jan 29th 2008.

Brought him information about the rotary engine and how it has stronger then normal exhaust pulses, which might account for the increased sound. I showed him the letter I received from Mazda that said they have no records of the stock dB level of the vehicle and that all cars met DoT standards.

The judge asked me how many times I had been pulled over for excessive noise. I told him only this one time.

I told him I have replaced the whole system, headers, all the way back, with a newer better flowing system and that the old system had rusted out. I also showed him that I had bought a presilencer to quiet down the exhaust... (didn't tell him it replaced the cat though.....).

After I showed him everything, he ruled in my favor, and let me go.

Yay! I was soooo happy. I think the key thing was mentioning that I replaced the whole system with a newer one, and the car doesn't have a normal cylinder engine. I said that maybe the cop just saw my car and assumed I had a little 4 cylinder engine, which aren't too loud, unless you put a fart can on there. Also the rotary engine information on the stronger exhaust pulse helped.

Well, good luck, I don't think any of this would have worked with anything other then a rotary.....

Yea! Way to Stick it to EM! Thats awesome! Loud *** Rotary FTW! Its probably not that loud either?

Lucky you don't own one of those piston things... w/ all their rings and valves and crap.

Thats awesome! I'm staying with my loud *** exhaust! Because its a rotary...

Nice, its good to see justice surved. I am sick of seeing cops pull over modified cars for BS reasons just so they can ticket them however they feel like it.
