Nice, my dad has a southbend lathe. Maybe I could check it out next time me and Derek are visiting you?

As far as finding a lathe, I would check out the local high schools, or machinists club.

i still have to check with LB, what would you charge me to do it adam? just need half inch round stock machined down to slightly under 2/5 and at one end left 1/2, (maybe take a small amount off) and have that little piece be like 1/5 of an inch long or so (doesnt need to be exact) to hold the rubber boot on. the hole piece is like 2 inches long or so

I don't know maybe 20 bucks, seem's pretty basic. PM for details, I need a rough drawing of dimensions and the bar stock. I can get it done in the morning at work, so you will need to drop it off the day before at Apex and you can pick it the following evening or whenever you can come back. FYI, most of next week I'm busy working on a custom seat mount for an E36. So sooner the better.
