anyone know how to work on a porsche 914 2.0?
my roommate has one. it's pretty much a typical porsche and needs work regularly. he's suspicious of Conaway motors (pretty much the only people around who will work on porsches) of exaggerating the repair costs if you know what i mean.
anyhoo... if anyone is in a position to impart some wisdom, we could use some. it would be nice to get some gremlins squared away for good.

Hey, your buddy posted on the 914 Club a while back.
Fordahl's is awesome for suspension tuning/ corner balancing.
Redmond European for everything else... highly recommended!
Gerber Motorsports near downtown Seattle has a good rep also.
DO NOT take a 914 to any other shops, unless you have very deep pockets and don't mind paying hundreds of dollars for a bunch of lies and a glad-hand back-stabbing handshake, and the car still runs like crap. Many local 914 owners have been there, done that.
1) He should call R.E. and then drive over... that way he can get an honest opinion and estimate. No harm in that. I wouldn't be surprised if it's something simple.
2) Does he know about the John Walker meet this weekend? - that's a way cool event. There will be several knowledgeable and helpful 914 guys attending who would be happy to get another teener back on the road! Park in the upper lot of the Phinney Neighborhood Center, because the lower lot is crowded with the Porsche swap meet.
Stay cool..
