If no-one will let you use one, I would say it's not a necessity at all.

I've done 5 or so rebuilds without the use of an engine stand, and I would've never known the difference.

A few 2x4's and an engine hoist is all you'll really need throughout the rebuild process.

A 3 LBS. Coffee can works great. John (Partly Mazda) showed us how to use one, it fits perfectly in the front housing and is suprisingly stable.

those engine stand adapters are AWESOME. Id never assemble a rotary without one, or tear one down.

Its seriously the best thing you never knew existed but can now never live without

I will sell ya one for $25 shipped. the holes might need to be drilled for a 13b cause I had it for a 12a. The ones I have are home made and heavy duty as hell. They are made from 4 inch "C" channel steel. A nuclear bomd could go off and this thind is all that would be left. Mine worked great for even tightening the gland nut. I can post a pic if you guys wanna see it also.

The engine stand adapter I have in stock will work going all the way back to a 69 R100 [10-A] engine and with the 12-A, 13-B RENSES blocks too...

Yeah I didnt forget the coffee can trick. i think it worked well too. I got a free engine stand from a past roomate that didnt pay his rent so kicked him out and took his engine stand.. But im sure ill just use a coffee can. cant turn it upside down when rebuilding it anyways i guess. BUT i might run down to atkins for a rebuild kit when i need one.. i cant wait for snailmail
