Anyone in the Bothell area?

I have an interview today (the last one for Zumiez Sr. Web Applications
Developer) and if I get it, I'll be moving up to the Mill Creek/Bothell/
Woodenville area. How is it up there? Anyone have any honest opinions
on the qualities of the school districts? (My daughter would be attending
one up there). The housing costs, and general pro's and cons of the area?
Very excited, I hope this interview goes smoothly!

I'm moving to Kirkland/Totem Lake next year after my marriage, and iv been around the mill creek/bothell and woodenville area quite often the past 5 years. Its a pretty straight forward higher middle class or rich urban area. As far as raising a family in that general area, you wont have a problem, actually you will find it quite peaceful.

Housing in those areas has a pretty wide spectrum, i couldn't really tell you what the housing market is like right now over there off the top of my head.

expect to see lots of high end vehicles rolling around those areas too. I cant tell you how many modded R8s, GT-Rs, Vipers, Aston Martins, Ferraris, and Lambos i see just from traveling through mill creek/bothell.

It's official, I got the job and we're writing out the contract.
I work in Merrill Creek (sp?), and I'm looking at around three
or something weeks until a hard start date. Looking forward
to living in Bothell.

Whatever you do don't live on Merrill Creek parkway in Everett where you'll be working. It's a high occurence area for theft and vandalism.

But Bothell is a good place

Good to know, thanks Tim and Wings (sry, no idea what your name is)
I hadn't planned on living IN Merrill Creek, I figured that living around
a bunch of people I work with (See: Zumiez) would be a bad idea, we're
a group of hoodlums. Don't you live around that area somewhere Tim?
or is it bellevue and I'm just a forgetful bastard?

Bothell is a pretty cool area to live, I'm all over that area got a lot of friends with big garages in and around Bothell. The schools are better than some in the surrounding areas from what I've heard, the police there kind of suck though.. a lot of being pulled over for doing 5mph over

Interesting... I've NEVER been pulled over in Bothell. I was starting to think the police were pretty lax there.

Anyone up North have a room I can't rent from them for a few hundred a month or something
until I can get money down on a place? (Wifey is staying down here until we get a new place
up there.) We had to sign a short term lease, so I plan on livin up in this area to save money
on commute and scout new places to live.

Congratulations on your new job.

Bothell is a typical suburb. Slow and relaxing (boring if you're of a certain age). Anyway, Bothell straddles both King and Snohomish Counties. In terms of schools, I think there are three school districts that service Bothell - Northshore, Edmonds, and Mill Creek (on this point, I might be wrong). Anyway, Northshore has the best reputation and results in the area... It's a shared school district with Woodinville and Kenmore (both more upscale than Bothell in most areas). So, if you want the best schools, it's best to be in Southern Bothell bordering Woodinville or Kenmore. My kids go to Lockwood Elementary (in Kenmore) - which is very, very good. Also, has the PACE program there (both my kids are in it) which is even better.

Congrats on getting the job! Now if I can just get one, lol.

I live in bothell right now, and it's alright. I don't spend much time here, after my Fionce and I get married I'll be moving up to Marysville. But Bothell seems pretty quiet, pretty nice. Close to both I5 and I405. With your new job you wanna be close to those 2. Plenty to do here. You need anything just ask.
