WA any help or advice?

got 94 fd, my airpump is dead....its making that loud noise. my oil pessure at idle is 0-10, and raises to about 40 on highway. just got the oil changed, and i'm running10w-30 valvoline. when i took off the oil cap today, it looked like mayo under the cap. i'm guessing that my oil is contaminated. any advice or help would be much appreciated. Zach

What noise is your airpump making? If it's making the "moo" when as the engine is windibng down then it's normal. If it's more then that look at picking up another airpump used, in fact I may still have one in my bin of parts.

Don't trust the factory oil gauge 100% it's pretty typical for it to break on the FD. Mine doesn't even register half the time and my oil pressure is fine. How many miles are on the motor, it could be a sign of weaknes if the gauge is still reading accurately. If you're really concerned there are several people in Pierce County who would be willing to heklp you, if not a local rotary shop. Which seem to exist mostly in Pierce County.

Also, it's common for the filler neck to have that icky substance, but as far as I've read no one has really come up with a reason for why it's there and what causes it... But it's nothing to be alarmed at based on what they've said.

i got the car in november with 86000 on it, it just rolled over to 90251 today. the airpumps makes a loud grinding noise during acceleration and cuts off at around 3800 RPM. and for some reason today, when i was accelerating onto i-5, in 3rd gear, my boost gauge read close to 15.....which i don't think is good, since i've never seen it go above 11. and the car kind of "hiccups" under acceleration.

If it's grinding then I'm pretty sure you're correct that it's toast. The boost was probably creep because it's 28 degrees outside and the cold weather will cause that. When is the hiccup? Is it when you first mash the throttle or is it during the acceleration?

I do have an airpump in my parts bin if you're interested. It worked fine when I removed it

i am interested in the air-pump. i was going to eliminate it, but if i don't have to, i won't. it hiccups when i first mash the pedal. i was driving home from work, and normally when i down shift to 4th, it'll take off, but when i did it this time, it hesitated then started to go....but it felt really bogged down. i think the stock intake is screwed up too. when i bought it, the hose with the bov, wasn't connected to the airbox, it was zip-tyed next to the airbox. i was going to re-connect it, but on the opposite side of the airbox has a hose connection, but no hose to go with it. but it ran fine until now, so i wasn't worried about it since i plan on replacing the airbox with CAI anyway.....my idle seems to dip down to around 500RPMs before raising to the normal 900 it usually sits at. but it only does this when i'm stopping....i love this car.....but i hate it at the same time....it's more confusing than my wife.......

well the bov disconnected from the airbox is nothing to worry about. That is done so you can hear the stock bov vent to atmosphere. The hose on the side is supposedly something for the automatic transmission cars...?? Not sure what or why but that's what I could find cuz mine has a hose but goes to nothing.
The bucking/hesitation is also pretty common. Look in the 3rd gen section FAQ I believe there is something in there that could help you get rid of it. Little adjustments you can make. If you have an aftermarket ecu that's programmable some tuning could also help eliminate that

it just doesn't seem to drive the same as when i bought it....could the air-pump have anything to do with the bucking/hesitation? how much do you want for the one in your parts bin? and also, what in your opinion is the best aftermarket ecu? my car runs quite rich...i need to lean it out

Apex'i PowerFC is hands down the best bang for your buck. I don't think the airpmp would effect it. You could be lookin at a motor goin out at that mileage. Have it checked. I'll let it go for like $20

definitely the best aftermarket ECU for the FD has to be the power FC. the bucking my be a throttle control issue or a fuel issue. It could be a lot of things its kinda hard to figure out unless the car is in front of me. Tims right about the engine also you may want to start saving for a rebuild fund mine blew at around 90,000. You are around my neck of the woods also if you want I can come take a look at the car and see if I notice what might be causing the issue. Who did you buy the car from anyway?

zack4173...i'll definitly take your advice on saving for the rebuild, i just wanna make the engine last until early summer, becuz then i deploy and i can do more. i actually bought it in lynnwood from newport motors.....i know....don't by cars from the shady dealer....but i love my fd...almost everything i dreamed it'd be.......minus the issues. but if u wana meet up and take a look at it for i'd appreciate it.

Han Han Han don't offer him parts he can't install! Wait til he gets a standalone before you offer him a midpipe. Zach if you decide to pick up Han's midpipe DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT install it until you have an aftermarket ecu. You'll risk overboosting and blowing your motor

lol...you got it tim....han, i'll take the mid-pipe....i'll be ordering my power fc through rx7.net withing the next few days i'm paying ******* 900 for it, and i'm trusting that its worth the money from what i've been told and the research i've done. i'm getting the apexi intake as well. BUT, i'm just getting all my parts together for when i come back from california in early march. so that when i return, i can just start installing them, so my fd runs better. lol....nothing too crazy....i've been driving my car like a grandma for the past couple of days (as per zacks advice on keeping the boost at low levels)...so the civics on post are getting all happy, telling they're friends they "wasted" an fd....lol....i just want everything to blend into the car when i get back....i probablly won't put too much more into it until after deployment...han, how much for the mid-pipe? and tim....cash or credit? lol
