Another one bites the dust.

So I blew up another transmission today. I just bought one from Lloyd two weeks ago and now it's dead. So I need a transmission asap. My car is at my friends house in Renton, so if you feel like being a pal and bringing me one I can reward you with money. My phone is dead, so PM me if you can help. THANX

p.s. and yes I guess now I know I need an upgrade. Time to save for a T2 transmission.

Adrian, only your luck....or hard driving can go through so many components so fast. That tranny you got from me was fine...... till yesterday. :-)
Ease up a bit buddy till you can rock a TII tranny and then you can thrash it all day long. The FB tranny is good for about 200hp if I remember right.
You got me thinking about getting a TII tranny now for my project engine....
You can always use my shop if you need a place to do a swap.
I think you are just trying to get out of buying the bottle of Merlot for the last tranny....LOL!

I've already got the wine sitting on my counter, but the output shaft straight snapped in half. I'll somehow try and post pics, and the bearing in the rear of the tranny where the driveshaft rides was hammered. There was a serious wobble in the rear of that tranny, it just happened to give up on me at the track. I used my stock 12A tranny on my turbo FB and it saw over 180k of regular driving, 40k of turbo power, hundreds of hard launches, maybe 10-15 6kRPM 8" Mikky Thompson drag slick launches, plenty of street races, survived an accident and it was still good when I parted the car out. That last tranny survived 3 weeks af 520 traffic into bellevue and 1, count it, 1 launch. My first run i dropped clutch at 3k and it bogged hard. The seond run i dropped clutch at 5k and BANG, it was done.

Dont know if you still need one but i found this???

That's the one I bought. I'm pissed though. I didn't notice until he was gone, but the output shaft was rusty, the shifter housing was literally packed with rust and dirt, and a shifter bolt was broken off inside the housing...
If i had to guess I's say I'm putting 160 to the wheels hardly enough to kill 2 trannies in 3 weeks. But I do plan on turboing the car, so i'm going to need another option soon. I don't want a t2 tranny caus they have their own issues. Maybe a t5 with an adapter. Anyone know of other options?

LOL I've never done that. does anyone know for sure if FC NA trannies are any stronger? All you have to do is swap tail shafts and they bolt right in.

They have more ribbing in the aluminum casting so they look stronger. Maybe they flex less.

If you are going to go to all that trouble though, why not a TII?

cause I already have a lightwitght na flywheel. and it'd be quite expensive to to a t2 tranny swap. I'd need a new starter, lightweight flywheel, tranny and custom driveshaft. I have a FB tailhousing, and I can get a fc na tranny for $50
