91 NA electrical short "testing my rotarty patitence"

Well after 15 minutes sitting on the overpass and getting pushed off the road by a police officer and talking to erikseven i've managed to trace the possible issue to the following.

The EGI fuse blew, so i swaped the headlight retractor 30A fuse in its place, turned the key to on, it was still intact, turned the engine over and it burnt out.
So the diagnosis would seem to be that i have a short somewhere in the emissions controll system.

Any body have any similar issues and have any idea where to look for the offending short?
If that doesn't work out I think i'll be taking it to the closest stealership to have them check all the appropriate wiring.

and now i have to ride the bus from north seattle to redmond UGH lol..... time to drink.

Thanks,
Tom

I'm in the exact same boat! I've been going out of my mind trying to fix this. I've repalced all my fuses and bought a new battery and still nothing. I had my roomate try to jump start me with his car since I was getting no power anywhere. Nada. I had Schuck's check the battery. I bought it from them. It's still good with a charge. To top it all off I just lost my job this past weekend. so now I'm jobless. What a fanfuckingtastic month. Any kind soul want to come down and help me fix this and get my baby running again this weekend, you would be forever my savior. I just need the car to look for work,as riding the bus everywhere sucks ***. And I want to see it running again. Hell maybe we can do both these cars done and fixed in one weekend and have 2 more 7's back on the road. If anyone wants to help PM me and let me know!

Thanks
Erik

(And yes I know I'm thread jacking, but the OP gets priority on help. I understand that. )

check the wires by the passenger side of the car again like kompressor said. I had one of my wires break off from its connector by the windshield wiper motor, (and the power steering) and I think the positive touched the body and caused the short. Took only a few times to figure it out. If you wanted you could go to the ECU unplug the harness and found out whats grounded that shouldnt' be. O.o
