1st time at the track with the rx7

well was at PR today, after the track dried up i got four runs in... the best of which was

R/T .268
60' 2.203
330 6.432
1/8 9.924
MPH 69.47
1000 .000 - don't know why that wasn't reading all day
1/4 15.484
MPH 88.73

overall im satisfied for it being a n/a 13b. We will see how things get with better tires and some more practice

looks like your launching fairly hard or hardly at all bogging of the line,1.8-2.0 60ft are decent for a street car,but other than that, not bad,i'mhoping to have my car done by april.

Are you for real. 1.8-2.0 are smoking for a street car at the track.! In fact breaking under 2.0 is like finding the holy grail. Of course this excludes AWD. I was unable to break under 2.0 with my 2150lb na FB launching at 6000 grand on bf goodrich drag radials. My best ET was a 14.04 at 101. That was hooking up hard enough to snap an axle, also snapped a U joint.

BTW good runs, next time your thinking about heading out, post it up on the boards.

I'll probably be out at Woodburn on the 10th of March, if its not raining.

I just need to pick up a PS pulley from a buddy, slap all the lines back on it. I'm hoping for a 125mph+ pass this year, on street tires in my FD. Last year I ran a 12.2@122 on stock sized Faulkens. You want to talk about wheel spin through through 3rd gear! Lots of fun. CJ

ive never been to woodburn- is it better than pir?
i've only been to pir once, last august, and i was appalled. the track was filthy- i could see crap all over the track in front of me at the start line. i let me friend drive my car and he almost crashed it shifting into 4th (tires broke loose- never happens on the street).
maybe it was just that event, but damn if it wasnt hard to drive...
i just came from san antonio where they torch the track every 5 minutes. on my bike, my boots would stick to the tarmac..

Well, in the track's defense.... It's not a "drag strip" really.

It's a road course that's got the long front stretch that's marked off for drag racing. http://portlandraceway.com/graphics/BigMap2.gif

There is a full tree and everything though.

Woodburn is a great track. The guys that run it are pretty cool now too. They use to not be so cool when it came to the whole "import" thing. They've since embraced it so to speak.

yep i'm for real,at PIR ran 2,0 60ft with street tires, small streetport 13b in a 80 RX7,ran a 13.9@ 102,but i lanched at around 2500 rpm just like if i was street racing.the reason you lost an axle is that you didn't lanch hard enough, the tire hooked, and it grenaded, been there done that, you need to launch hard enough to induce just a tiny bit of wheelspin to shock the tires loose to unload the initial force that makes the rearend housing flex wich causes the axles to also twist and then brake.i'/ve been racing for 8 years, gone through braking parts due to pushing them to the limit.

Fair enough, I have only been dragging for 3 years, So I should of launched at a higher rpm to break the tires lose a little? Or is it possible, just not enough torque to slip sticky drag radials loose on a NA car. Either way, I never broke under 2.0 and it sounds like you didn't either. So my point stills stands, damm near impossible to crack 2.0 on a street driven rwd car.?

my best 60ft was a 1.96,i tryed to run slicks, but they were to worn out,and i blew one in the burnout box.you will have to play with launch rpm, start high and work your way down at probably 500 rpm's at a time, your 60ft's should drop wich will drop your E.T,as well, you can also play with shocks to make the car transfer weight better.i could type for hours here on what i've learned, this years car will be a much faster car, almost done with it.

I'll steal it some more.

In my old 90 GTU with full interior, with a mildly ported Pineapple Racing motor, duel 2" exhaust, ported intake manifolds, Pineapple sleeves, S-afc and (tuned by Ralph at GZ.) HI-6, cone filter, it ran as low as a 14.9 or .7 (Can't remember, this was before trading it in on my 8.) and as high as mph at 97mph. This too was on true street tires. The car made peak power at 7,500rpm, and was'nt dropping HP off at the revlimiter of 8,550rpms. From 6,500rpms and up the S-AFC would read that the AFM was all the way open. I can only imagine what kinda power the car would have made with a standalone. CJ

I have some in car video's via a digital camera, that my wife filmed on a back road if somone wants to listen/see the car. Just need someone to host them.
