1974 repu.

So after Scoping them out for a while now, and getting rid of my Ranger over the Winter, I found a sweet deal on a REPU and decided to buy it. Was looking on Craigslist and came across this one in Kennewick WA. Wich is about 300 miles away from me in Albany, OR. So I drove up there yesterday in my 85 GSL-SE to look at it and buy it. What a trip that was... well not really after driving to LA to get that RX-3 for Hoofhearted a couple weeks ago. So I had my insurance company tow it, however they only covered 200 miles. Well it turned out that Pineapple Racing was 197 miles even from where it was in Kennewick. So I called Rob and he was ok with me leaving it there over night. Thanks, Rob!! So today I went to go pick it up with my good friends Kevin and Lacey in there Jeep and a tow dolly. Had to take a detour through the Forged parking lot. Got on the freeway and the car dolly would not stop fishtailing!! Turns out that the tires were not on straight. So we straightened them out and got it back to Northwest auto in Salem. I put the carby on and after a new fuel pump and some oil in it it runs good! Still have quite a bit of work to do to it before its driveable, but I am looking forward to this project for sure. Oh and it has the origanal 4 port 13B.
Hoofhearted (Bob) should be posting a pic here sometime soon. If not I will have a few to post tomorrow. Before pics of corse.

ncastrignano,

If you don't have it running by next weekend, bring your daily driver (or whatever) to Salem for the "Rotards" meet and scope out Roberts REPU. I know Roberts REPU will be there.

You probably already know this about REPU's: The passenger side wheels have a right-to-loosen and a counter clockwise turn to tighten them. I nearly broke a lug wrench trying to get the lug nuts off before I learned of that fact.

So I did a compression test today on that origianal 4 port 13B. 116psi Front, and 104psi rear. Wow, I was impressed! Either those 4 ports had a bit more compression, or I got one hell of a good engine to work with. Also took off the carby and intake to do a rebuild and some minor modifications. Stockport on the block, wich is what I figured. Here are some pics of the Carby and intake. Also a pic of the carby and intake next to the same from a 12A 84 RX-7.

So I put the rebuilt carby and intake on and it ran fine. Was idleing fine until...... I noticed some water and oil leaking from the exhaust Mani flange. Looks like I may have a coolant and or oil seal going bad. I will be doing a coolant system pressure test here in the next few days...
