Has anyone ever done this around here? any shops that can do the swap? any idea how much it would cost?

wow thats weird. i wouldnt think ud have to cut frame rails n all that jive. a 5.0 from the mustang drops in w/ different mounts. monster miata has a whole kit to do the swap for that motor so i wouldnt think that puttin in a much smaller motor would be so ridiculous. ive also seen sr20det's in a miata, wonder if it was that extensive as well.

That'd be fun! 9k redline w/ itbs in a little miata... V8 would just be absurd... never seen either in action...

I'd go for the rotary over the V8 personally... think the powerband of the rotary would be more fun.

It doesn't allways thake the at much work. you can put it in above the frame rails, but then the engine would sit pretty high and you'd have pinion angle issues and hood clearance issues. That's why you don't see it that much. Either you do it right and it takes a shitload of work, or you slap it in above the frame and have a bunch of other issues to deal with.

Remember,v8's get smaller from top to bottom, rotaries are the square from top to bottom,so you would get more clearance with a v6 or v8.
