Ok, im about to pull my motor(1st time= no rotary knowledge) and hopefully change the coolent seals to just get it up and running again. Anyone thoughts?? Dont have much(cant even afford a cherry picker).
Sooo you have bad coolant seals eh? It is also possible that you have corrosion through the water jacket... so be prepared to buy/borrow/scavenge at least 1 rotor housing. Just my 2 cents.
If I were going through the trouble to tear down the engine, I would at least try to do some minimal inspection/replacement of seals and such. With no cherry picker, you will have to rig up something to get the engine out. You can rent one for like 25 bucks a day I think.

You're ffffffd to think that it will be cheap, and just coolant seals. Nothing is as easy as it seams. I have thousands into my "coolant seals" and if you are thinking about boost...well....more money! I'd park it and have at least 3K ready B4 you tear it down. If not, you'll get a hundred miles of enjoyment and then will have to do it all over again, and again, and again...etc. Good luck though..Wish you the best

The engine doesnt run? i have a bad coolant seal in my 85 once its warm it goes away i drive the **** outa it. just find a good used engine as a spare and keep care of it JIC you F up the current one. Way cheaper.IMO
yes it does run and i took it to Atkins and showed it to Dan. sad thing is that it didnt have a thermostat so the upper radiator inflated like a balloon and he told me to park it and rebuild it. so i thought it was just a coolent termostat failure, so i bought one from mazda and installed it. it ran in my yard for 45min and was fine till i took it to the freeway then it started to boil the coolent resovoir, then the gauge started to go up. So drove it little by little till i got it home.

+1 for waiting to rebuild till you have enough money to do it right. No matter what you budget for, it will cost hundreds more than you think. Save yourself some time and do it right the first time.
How about a cheap used engine?
