Description:

The time has come to sell my RX-7. It is a 1993 base model (no sunroof) with the PEP option tan interior. It has less than 66,000 miles.
I purchased it in '06 and the swap was completed in 2008 after I got most of the swap parts. I purchased the engine from Pez (Greg Jones) and paid additional money to have him do the swap for me. He claimed the engine and 6 speed was from a 2002 Camaro Z/28 and that he replaced the main and rod bearings and used ARP rod bolts. The heads have never been off the block. The engine has a LS6 cam, LS6 valve springs and LS6 intake, 241 heads and LS6 block(12561168). It has a under drive pulley. It has a KG3 alternator and has a K&N air filter w/90* elbow. It's not that I needed a 130 amp alternator but the KG3 uses better diodes. I'll include a 105 amp if the buyer wants that instead. It has a Mazda oil pressure sender and water temperature sender with adapters to fit the LSx block. It uses a Denso fuel pump from a Supra Turbo and a Corvette fuel pressure regulator. The LS6 clutch gave up after 6 months of fun and I replaced it with a Texas Driveline Service setup, A big composite clutch disk for street manners, a pressure plate that is rated for 550 ft/lb and a 15 LB billet steel flywheel. I installed it with GM TTY bolts and a new slave cylinder and pilot bearing. It also has a Tick remote bleeder and a Wilwood clutch master. The Wilwood is angled like stock and gets fluid from the brake master. Because of this, the Mazda cruise control module fits.
The subframe is pre-Samberg but similar. Made by Dyno-tested (Pyro), it is the original Jim LaBrek design but mine is rare; it is one of the few to be made out of chrome moly. It uses the Corvette pedestal engine mounts and biscuit type poly isolators. The kit uses the transmission mount and torque arm from the Granny's kit. The transmission isolator was recently replaced. The steering rack and it's isolators are stock and in good shape. The drive shaft is the Hinson steel shaft, shortened to the correct length and balanced . The bump steer correction is the Hinson inboard kit; it's possible to use the stock FD rims. The rest of the suspension is stock. The GM power steering pump has had the spring modded to prevent over pressure and Pez said it was the best steering feel he ever had on a FD.
The car uses the Dakota Digital to run the speedometer and the X-14 area and wiring is very neet and tidy. Pez supplied the PCM and harness. The harness has the usual mods to interface with the Mazda harness but the GM harness is extended. It fits under the carpet just in front of the passenger seat. Because of this, I was able to make kick panel speaker enclosures. It may be possible to mount 8" woofers with 5" depth but what I had in there was some deep 6.5" woofers. No speakers are in there now but there are 8" grills and 1.3" tweeters (only one working). It has Boston speakers and a Alpine 7897 head unit.
Back under the hood, this car has a Fluidyne 4-core radiator with stock fans and stock condenser. The Mazda A/C lines have a Pez adapter to use the GM A/C pressure switch so the A/C is PCM controlled, It cuts off at high RPM to prevent over-pressure and the idle doesn't change when A/C request completes. Four years ago, I bought headers for it. Spoolin ceramic coated with 1 7/8" primarys and merge collectors. The V-bands to to 3" pipes for just over 12" and then to a Flowmaster 2-1 merge with dual 3" in to single 4" out. 4" pipe runs to in front of the axle. It then has a 4" to 3.5" transition about 6" long and from there to a OBX 3.5" cat back. I was planning a cam, 230/230 111+2 but life got in the way.

The Bad
The A/C does not work. It used to work but had a slow leak. I would charge it at the beginning of summer and put a can of stop leak in it. About four years ago I put some red angel in the drier and it hasn't worked since. A friend said I might need to replace the orifice.
The odometer does not work. I can see condensation through the plastic. It had just under 66,000 miles when it stopped working and has mostly sat.
The oil pressure gauge does not work. I have never seen it work. It has the Mazda sender behind the intake manifold.
The tinting on the hatch glass is starting to bubble.
It has a cheap paint job. They painted the key holes. Painted plastic parts.
It has old tires. There is some cracking and dryness to the Nan Kang 285/30-18 tires. They are on nZo wheels that are 18x10 +50 . None of the wheels are curbed but they need to be polished.
The antenna only goes half way up. The volume button on the Alpine sticks. The dome light won't come on when the passenger door is opened. The tach needle goes nuts sometimes. If the car sits for a long time, the battery goes dead.

The Good
The swap was done by a guy who wrote a book on doing these swaps. Literally, I have the book and will include it in the sale.
The interior is very complete. OK, it's not black but things that are broken or missing on other FD's are here. One key fits everything. When you pull back the carpet to look at the Dakota Digital or the PCM, you see clean, orderly wiring.
No title funny business. My name is on the front, yours will be the only name on the back.

I live between Mobile and Pensacola. PM me for a phone number. I hope you like my car ... enough to make it yours. Thanks for your time.

Joe
