MI Working on the audio system in a 89 vert

Ok so I am getting ready to install a new head unit in my new fc and have a few questions. I am installing a double din 7in LCD with DVD and gps. I have been doing alot of reading on here and from what I can make out so far it appears that mycar has amps for the speakers already factory installed. My plan when I got the radio was to just use a harness and connect it to the factory wiring and speakers, but after reading up a bit it seems that 15watts is the best the factory amps will do and m y new head unit outputs 80watts alone which is clearly much better. In this case I have read most people just bypass the amps and run new wire straight to the speakers themselves. This seems a simple thing to do but my car has not only the extra door speakers but also headrest speakers. I would like them all to function correctly with the new head unit installed. So my first question would be, would it just be easier to patch into the stock wiring and deal with the 15 watts? If not what is the best way to go about wiring all this up and where should I run the wires that go to the rear of the car, like is there a hidden spot along the doors or anything anyone can recommend? Also the new radio is 4 channel, front left and right and rear left and right. Should I just wire the dash speakers, headrest speakers, and door speakers all to the front lines of the new head unit?

Sorry if it's alot of text I'm just excited and want to get it done but don't want to have to spend days tearing things apart to get it working. I currently don't have money to replace the speakers so those have to stay for now. If anyone can throw me some advice that would be awesome. Thanks for reading!

Great and timely question as I too am about to do the same thing. Only difference is I am putting in new carpet and new skins on the seat, so I have access to the headrest speakers.

I plan on running new wires and deleting the rear amp despite my desire to keep the headrest speaker control.

From the various posts I have read on this board, most vert owners just make the headrest speakers the rear speakers. When you wire stuff up, be mindful of the power draw related to the rear speakers. I am thinking of getting 2 amps, one for the front speakers and one for the rear to make sure I don't burn something out/up.

Let me know how it goes and feel free to email me to bounce questions off. Looks like us vert owners are in this together.

Regardless of what your head unit says it most likely only puts out about 15 watts as well. when certain companies rate their units power it as at a voltage your car will not produce. depending on the ohm load and rms power handling of the speakers you could just wire them directly to the head unit. I'm not sure exactly how the factory amp in your car is set up but you may have to run the low level to the factory amps as well.
