Windshield Cowl Grill Plastic Pieces

Hello,

Does anyone happen to know what these pieces of thin plastic under the windshield cowl grill of a 93 FD (base model) are for? The smaller ones go on the ends under the grill but I'm not sure where the larger piece goes. I'm putting the car back together after paint and didn't get a good pre-disassembly picture of this area. Are they just cosmetic?

Thanks

I just pulled off my cowl to refinish mine and it was already missing the smaller pieces and the larger one fell off due to its age. I believe they are mostly cosmetic and to hide the paint underneath the cowl. Possibly also to stop large pieces of debris to fall through.

IIRC, you can look on the underside of cowl. I think there are small locating nubs for that larger rubber piece that fits on the passenger side half of the cowl. I'm not certain of the function.

Might just be cosmetic for hiding the paint under the cowl mesh.

Recently had the cowl off for a windshield replacement and remembered the thread...
