Where to start 87 Rx7

Hey guys, as you can see I'm new to these forums and even newer to rotary engines. Anyways I recently acquired an 87 rx7 non-turbo it's been sitting for awhile and has something taken off the engine says (13B injection) some kind of air/fuel intake I'm assuming? There's two of them almost identical except for a vacuum, so I'mt thinking maybe he got one from a salvage yard? Anyways originally I was thinking I didn't want any part of that can of worms, but now I think I do. Where should I start? I was thinking throw in a battery and see if it turns over? Whoever pulled it off shoved some cloths in what I'm assuming is the intake manifold, but am not sure? Let me know what you guys think? Or is this a part out

Thanks guys.

Your first step is the 2nd gen FAQ to download a copy of the Factory Service Manual. After that, hit your local auto parts store for a copy of the Haynes service manual.

Then, read this: http://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/unstore.htm
