HHey everyone, I've got an 85 gsl model, I am doing a built 302 and 5 speed swap. Well this winter I want to put some wheels on it that my buddy is selling, they are Fittipaldi Fittistars in 17x10 rear and 17x8.5 front. I am tubbing the rear of the car so fitment isn't an issue back there, but front fitment is my concern. What would it take to squeeze an 8.5 front under there.(don't worry about the bolt pattern I can get adapters for the front or custom hubs, the rear will just have axles made with the correct bolt pattern)

 

That's going to be a tough fit due to rubbing issues when you turn. Heck, even moderate 15's have trouble sometimes. You might gain extra clearance with some sort of widebody kit for the front, but it probably won't lok right. I would look for the same wheels in a smaller size for the front.
