MA What speakers do you guys use for a 1986 rx7 gxl?

I just bought a new cd deck, and with some fustration, realized all my sound is coming from the back two speakers(I think), and it sounds like ****(combination of exhaust leak from front end, and bass from back speakers)...so here I am looking for a new sound system...any recommendations? I don't have a lot of money, and looked on the boards, and am confused about all the speaker sizes everyone uses. I am having best buy install them, so I cant custom fit speakers into my setup, so what are the sizes I need? So if I am right...I have a pair of speakers in my foor, a pair under the dash?, and the two big ones in back, right?

Any help would be awesome!

Since you want best buy to install them just ask the guy in the audio department for your options. They should be in there computer, if not just have the installer look at it, it only took me 30 min to lay wires and install my system from scratch with out using any of the mazda wires so for him to look at your speaker sizes should be simple, plus if they cant tell you the sizes you need you might want to consider another installer.

I own the same car and what I did when I installed my subs, amp, and new headunit was rewire all the speakers straight to the headunit because you need to by-pass the amp for each speaker. I took one of the speakers out of the back and took it to where I was getting my speakers and matched up the sizes that would best fit. All of the speakers are the same size. There are no speakers in the doors, there are just the back two and the front two under the dash. Hopefully this helps. Also from what I've learned is Best Buy sucks at installing audio and you may run into some problems but it might not be the same around there.

You can find speaker sizes at crutchfeild.com for your car i belive but im pretty sure they are 4or 4.5in up front and 6.5 in the rear. Ive been in the audio industry for years and have always found that Memphis makes a quality entrylevel product. they sound real good for the money and handle good power. what are you running for a head unit? are you planning running and amp? you cold also try JBL power series speakers. they might be a little more expensive but also sound pretty good. I prefer the memphis though. I would also look into another installer. I wouldnt trust best by with a ford festiva let alone my rx7. You will also get much better advice and product choices from a real audio shop. good luck
