what should i do b4 i start my rotary???

what should i do b4 i start my rotary???
i just got this my fc and the guy i got it from didnt know anything about the engine said he never tried starting it he was goin to strip it and put a V8 in it..... is there any precautions i should take b4 i attempted to start it other than getting the old gas out of the tank and changing the oil????
