WV What do you all think?

Im looking at an fd w/ 55k on the chassis and is getting a new motor installed right now. The owner is putting a small streetport on it and I believe everything else is stock. I can't remember but it may have a DP and catback. for $13k.
How streetable would a streetport be? It is going to be my DD for about a year until I get my mk2 running. It is going to be on the stock ECU as well.

By definition, streetports are very streetable. There should be no appreciable difference in drivability from a stock port.

I love buying someone else's modded car. Especially when everything they tell you and what you look at upon purchasing, will be total crap after you start having the problems they have rigged up, due to improper installation or laziness of themselves.

Ha, true enough.

I just enjoy the completely stock cars that have never had anyone trying to install anything and breaking stuff, and wiring things poorly or rigging things up. Not a fan.

Just my thoughts.

well, the motor is being ported and installed by devid jerome (?). Ive heard good things about him before so im pretty sure it isnt a hack job. Any the only mods are turbo back, intake and the streetport. Is it alright to still run the stock ecu with these?
Sorry for the noobish question!

You are in danger territory with the stock turbos and ECU. You've radically increased airflow through the engine and the stock speed density system cannot automatically compensate.

LOL, you should be fine running these. However, in the future if you have plans to mod your Rotary, pick up an Apexi Power FC.

I agree with Aaron. A straight through exhaust is probably what blew the motor to begin with. Too little restriction makes it almost impossible to control boost properly and will result in boost spikes and creep which will lean out the Air/Fuel mixture which will lead to detonation and a blown motor. Get a high flow cat in there and you'll be safe with the stock ECU if you can keep it under 10 PSI. The stock ECU and fuel system has just enough fuel for stock boost levels. Go beyond that and you are looking at a blown motor.

Spend some time reading the 3rd gen FAQ thread to learn how to properly mod the car and potential mistakes and maintenance procedures etc.
