whaaaaaaaa
It's pretty hard to find someone that knows rotary's, who isn't either, trying to prove something, or trying to sell me something... Anyway, here is my problem.
I have owned quite a few Rx7's, so I know more then the average. All, but two, of them needed new engines because of the seals. A friend surprised me by buying me a 1983. He doesn't know anything about them. The fact that it had to be towed to his house should've said something... guess he just wasn't listening.
The people he bought it from told him that it had to be towed because it needed a water pump, which it did... To make a long story short-er, I put a new water pump in it, and a new radiator, and a new starter, new distributor, new spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, oil filter, etc.. The only things that aren't new is the engine it's self, and the carburetor. The car runs, just not very fast. As a matter of fact, I've never had it in 4th gear. To someone who has never driven an Rx with blown seals, it might appear that that is the problem. It is because I have that I feel it could be something else.
First, even with the bad seals, ALL of those others went hella faster then this one. And second, this one does NOT smoke.
It has been suggested that the problem may be "side" seals. After owning as many as I have, and with as many different problems that I've had to deal with, "side" seals has not been one of them. As a matter of fact, I've never even heard of them.
Here are my questions: what, and where exactly are side seals? Does it mean a new engine? And could it be something else?

The side seals go on the sides of the rotors and seal against the rotor housing holding compression in and oil out of the combustion area . the FSM's at foxed.ca should have some good pics of the side seals etc. Gerald m.

I'm going to go with "needs carburetor cleaned"
Also, the OMP/lines are probably gone, cracked, destroyed. shoot the lower sparkplug holes with a tiny bit of engine oil, then put some pre-mix in the tank.
